What will happen in The Yogurt Shop Murders Episode 3?
The upcoming episode is titled 'Mental Evidence.' It will revolve around the four suspects in the case, who were interrogated by the police; however, their statements kept changing. While two of them were released almost immediately, the rest two confessed to the crime and were charged.
However, with the advent of DNA technology in 2008, the case took another turn, which worked in the favor of the suspects. As per Rotten Tomatoes, the official synopsis for the episode reads:
“As the investigation revisits the young suspects more deeply, the police call them in for new videotaped interrogations, which reveal conflicting and ever-changing information. In October 1999, all four boys are arrested. Welborn is released quickly, followed by Pierce, who never gave a confession.”
It continues:
“However, Springsteen and Scott are charged with murder after having confessed to killing the girls and are sentenced to death and life in prison respectively. But in 2008, with new technology, a DNA sample from the crime scene turns the case upside down.”
The Yogurt Shop Murders is directed by Margaret Brown and produced by HBO Documentary Films, Fruit Tree, A24, and Pig Village. The executive producers include Brown, Emma Stone, Emily Osborne, Dave McCary, Avi Belkin, and Beth Garrabrant, among others.
