MobLand Season 1 has come to an end on Paramount+ after 10 exciting episodes. The show became a massive success, becoming one of the most-watched series on the streaming platform ever since it premiered in March 2025.

The finale ended on a surprising note with the death of a major character and another’s fate hanging in the balance. While the show has not been renewed for a second season yet, its positive reception hints that Paramount+ might want to continue it.

Meanwhile, executive producer Jez Butterworth is already hopeful of a MobLand Season 2. In an interview with the New York Post, Butterworth talked about what the next season of the crime drama would look like, revealing that it will again focus on the Harrigans, but in a setting where they have lost their power:

“I liked the idea of coming in at a point where perhaps their great days are behind them, and for that to be the test that Conrad is presented with, and that he has to meet the challenge of.”

He continued,

“We’ve been watching somebody who is perhaps questioning if they are at the end of their reign. Are they going to be able to rise to that and overcome that? I think that’s a fascinating narrative.”

Jez Butterworth teases what to expect from MobLand Season 2

In the first season’s finale, Harry is accidentally stabbed by Jan, which leaves fans concerned about his fate. However, Jez Butterworth confirmed that the fixer will be returning in MobLand Season 2 and his relationship with the Harrigans will continue to be at the center of the narrative. He further said that the family’s crazy dynamics will also be a prominent part of the potential second season:

“They resemble most families, which is to say, they’re chaos. I can’t be working out in my family who’s the craziest! That’s going to continue.”

Butterworth addressed Ritchie’s death in the season 1 finale, explaining how he was not a conventional villain and instead had some inherent goodness in him, which made the audience sympathize with him:

“I loved the fact — and a lot of it’s down to the actor — that he has a melancholy quality that really makes you feel sorry for somebody who is a monster. [Ritchie] was not a monster. He had a monster in him. Whereas, I think Conrad is a monster with a human being [in him] that’s trying to be heard. It’s a slightly different balance.”

Talking about how many seasons he wants MobLand to continue, Butterworth replied he is willing to make the show as long as it continues to keep the audience hooked:

“I’d like this to run for as long as it fascinates and delights and stimulates an audience. If it’s doing that, then long may it continue.”

MobLand revolves around the Harrigans, who control the crime syndicate in London. When their powers are threatened, they employ fixer Harry Da Souza to help them brace through the conflict and maintain their empire.

The show stars Tom Hardy as Harry, Pierce Brosnan as Conrad Harrigan, Helen Mirren as Maeve Harrigan, Paddy Considine as Kevin Harrigan, and Joanne Froggatt as Jan.
