The Hunting Wives' star Brittany Snow spoke with Collider about the murder-mystery series after its premiere on 25 July 2025. She talked about the scenes in the forest, the action-packed gun sequences, and the process of shooting them. She emphasised how the show has used "a lot of CGI" as there was no live ammunition on set.
She further expressed that this made her lucky, as she isn't comfortable with guns, and neither is Sophie.
"Oh, a thousand per cent, I was completely nervous about all the gun scenes because, as you can tell from the scenes, I do not know how to handle a gun, and neither does Sophie. Luckily for us, none of the guns and none of the scenes with guns were ever live ammunition. They always were completely empty. There was a lot of CGI and a lot of VFX. We’re reacting to nothing when things are going off."

Here are the key details Brittany Snow shared about the filming of The Hunting Wives' gun scenes
Snow, while speaking with Collider post-release of The Hunting Wives Season 1, said that the boars were not part of the set and were later done with CGI. She also added that the show did not harm any animals while shooting. However, the responsibility was left on the actors as they needed to react to invisible things purely based on their imagination and assigned timings.
However, the actor elaborated that since she was new to both hunting and guns, reacting uncomfortably to what's happening wasn't that difficult for her in The Hunting Wives. She further added,
"And obviously, the boars are not real. We were not killing animals because it would send me into a cave for four years if I did anything like that. I’m not really used to that. I didn’t grow up with hunting, and I didn’t grow up with guns. It wasn’t very hard to act in those scenes of being uncomfortable."
The actor, while playing Sophia, spiralled about the time the character was ready to give up on her feelings about violence and join shoulders with Margo and others. She drew a stark comparison to her own nature and concluded that she wouldn't have been able to do the same. Snow also mentioned that they were all given arms training before the shoot, but still, she wasn't able to be comfortable with the action.
"I question Sophia a little bit, how readily she was able to give up her uncomfortable feelings about guns and just hop on in there. I wouldn’t do that. Sophie just wanted to fit in. We all had weapons training, but I never got comfortable with it, as you can see. In Night Agent, you can also very much see, before I die, that I was not comfortable with it. It’s not my thing."
Snow also talked about the conclusion that Season 1 offered, unveiling the twist that Margo, Sophie's object of admiration, was responsible for killing Abby and also used Sophie's gun. This comes as a betrayal to her, and she almost reverts back to where his character arc started by the end of the show, insinuating how her character is now ready to embrace herself, and is not fazed or influenced by the glamorous life of Margo anymore.
The actor also confirmed that if The Hunting Wives is renewed, it will explore the relationship between Margo and Sophie in detail.
