Shark Tank investor Kevin O'Leary is known for staying at the top of industrial and market trends and he is doing the same now with an AI data center. Talking to News Nation, the investor explained that there are only a few places where anyone will be able to successfully establish these centers.
It is due to the power that is needed to run them. They need gas-powered plants because "nuclear power is 19 years away." Kevin lists out a few of these locations and says that he is going to be in Alberta, Canada.
Recently, US President Donald Trump announced a $500 billion project that would help in the advancement of AI and its technology. Similar to this, Shark Tank's Kevin O'Leary and Frank McCourt are now launching their own AI Data Centre worth $70 billion. When asked about the same, Kevin shared the issue with these plants and said,
"There's not enough power anywhere, so that's the problem. I mean, this whole thing about data centers is you can't put a gigawatt which is the minimum you need in any state. There's no power left in the grid."
Shark Tank Investor Kevin O'Leary talks about AI Data Centres
Kevin claims that the toughest part about data centers is powering them up. However, they don't think there will be many issues with their Alberta AI data center and will even get tenants easily. The host asked Shark Tank's Kevin about the comparison between the US versus Canadian data centers and said,
"In an announcement this week on AI Data Centres in Canada, the Trump Administration says the AI revolution, the data center revolution is happening here. You're choosing Canada to have it at current. So who wins? The US or Canada."
Explaining further, the differences as well as similarities between the same, Kevin continued by saying,
"So you have to actually build a turbine gas-powered because nuclear power is 19 years away. So the only places you can do that right now and I've got projects in all these locations, West Virginia, North Dakota and Alberta, Cabada. Why? Because they have massive amounts of stranded gas."
Shark Tank's Kevin is particularly excited about the project and data centers in general which will help advance the AI in the world. He has been linked to Frank McCourt for a while now as previously, the two had partnered up to buy TikTok.
This was when the app was getting banned in America and the algorithm was about to go dark. However, now that has become a history, Kevin has shared a new project that he is working on.
Talking about how Trump might also have a deal going on with Alberta, Kevin said,
"I like the hype. I like all the, you know, we're lighting up a three-mile island. I think that's hilarious it's never gonna happen. But really, there are only a few places you can do this. And so, Alberta is one of them and it's, you know, a very friendly place and there's obviously a relationship going on between Alberta Doug Burgman and Trump regarding the pipeline."
Kevin and Frank are establishing something new when it comes to the AI data center and sharing the details about the same, Kevin explained,
"So, Frank McCourt and I announced that $70 billion project. We're gonna do it up in Grand Prairie, Alberta. The largest data center on Earth at the lowest cost of energy. I think we're not gonna have a hard time getting tenants at all."
Shark Tank episodes are released weekly on Fridays on ABC at 8 PM Eastern Time.
