Poker Face has recently wrapped up its second season and is one of the fan favorite crime comedy shows. It narrates the story of Natasha Lyonne’s Charlie Cale, who is on the run to save her life from her former boss. While on a run, she ends up solving murder cases with her ability to detect lies.

The episodes are silly and sometimes dangerous, but overall thrilling, as Charlie saves the day by solving the murder by confronting the murderers. She also depicts kindness by meeting new people and befriending them.

10) Charlie outdoes the Iguana’s plan (Season 2, Episode 12)

With the introduction of Iguana in Poker Face Season 2, Charlie had finally found the perfect rival. Even after being so close to Charlie, she could lie without being caught by Charlie. It was revealed in the finale of Poker Face that Alex was the Iguana, and she tricked Charlie and killed Beatrix Hasp.

At the end of the episode, it almost looked like Alex/Iguana would win against Charlie. It is later revealed that Charlie had set fire to the kitchen of Beatrix’s home, which triggered the alarm, resulting in the police, Luca, and the FBI team reaching the destination and following Alex and Charlie as they drove through because Alex did not want to be caught. After being in situations that could harm her while she confronts killers, Charlie has learned to be prepared before meeting any more killers. This helps save her life during her confrontation with Alex, making it one of Charlie's best moments.


9) Charlie confronts Joyce and Irene (season 1, Episode 5)

One of the funniest and strangest situations arises in episode 5 of Poker Face season 1, when Lyonne’s Charlie goes to confront her ex-convict friends Irene and Joyce. At the end of the episode, Charlie discovers that Irene and Joyce are behind Ben’s murder. They killed him by injecting sodium nitrate and fooling everyone by tasering each other, and that Ben had died of a heart attack.

She then goes to their apartment and confronts them by informing them that the nurse had tried to revive him using a defibrillator, but the shocks were not registered in his wearable, meaning he had died a long while ago. This prompts the elderly ladies to take matters into their own hands and beat Charlie. They almost had won if Charlie had not tasered herself to alert the cops, resulting in one of the best moments of the show. This depicts the quick thinking of Charlie. While Charlie is running away from being captured and killed, she surely finds herself in situations that go on to become life-threatening.


8) Charlie tricks Guy (Season 2, Episode 8)

Episode 8 of Poker Face season 2 is regarded as one of the best episodes of the new season. In this episode, Charlie cons a conman with his own trick to prove how sleazy the man is. As she visits a hotel bar from where Regina escaped with the money, Guy approaches Charlie and introduces himself as Alec. Charlie quickly catches him in his lie and tells him that she has a talent for noticing when people lie, resulting in him revealing all of his truth and how he and Manny tricked Regina.

He then asks her to join their next con to win the money they conned from Regina and donate it to the National Orphan Fund. While she agrees, a similar situation like Alec and Regina arises. This time, Guy runs away with the money, but later finds out that the bag was full of food coupons, meaning he had been tricked just like he tricked Regina. This was one of Charlie’s best moments as she defeated Guy in his own game and got Regina’s money back.


7) Charlie catches Laura’s lie (Season 1, Episode 8)

In this fan-favorite episode from Poker Face season 1, Charlie bonds with an artist named Arthur and, impressed by his art, asks him if she can work in his place, to which he agrees. They both share their vulnerabilities by revealing the deaths that they feel guilty about, which makes their bond even stronger.

Arthur’s old business partner and friend, Laura, visits him and tells her emotional story of how she misses her husband and wants him to make a maquette of Max, Laura’s husband. Throughout Laura’s sob story, Charlie’s eyes kept flinching, depicting that Laura was lying about everything. Charlie’s eye twitching, and Laura’s plans of harming Arthur and trying to find the tape that proves she killed Lily bring Laura’s downfall, making it one of the best moments of Charlie on how she helped her new friend Arthur, who was living in guilt of killing Lily.

In this episode of Poker Face season 2, Charlie meets the overly competitive and ruthless Stephanie, who tries to destroy something that her rival classmate Elijah loves the most. Her plotting kills Elijah’s favorite Gerbil, Joseph, during his magic act, traumatising him. It doesn’t take much time to find out that Stephanie is the one who planned everything. She asks her to reveal the truth and apologise, but she refuses.

However, just like she recorded Charlie when she called Stephanie a pigtailed demon, to get her fired, Charlie snaps a photo of her when she tries to steal cash from the school’s cash box to blame Elijah’s father, JB. Charlie blackmails Stephanie into dropping her bullying and blackmailing tactics, or she will reveal the photograph of her, solving the case for good, but also getting a warning from Stephanie that she will take revenge when she gets up. Not just lie detection, Charlie, as a do-gooder, tries to do anything to help bring justice, making it one of the best moments of Charlie Cale.


5) Charlie successfully fools Jimmy and Trey (Season 1, Episode 9)

In episode 9 of Poker Face, Charlie finds herself in a surprising murder case where she almost becomes the next victim. Starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Trey, Charlie gets hit by his car, and he and his friend Jimmy try to minimise the damage as Trey is under house arrest. However, it's hard to lie and fool Charlie even when she is hurt, as she doesn’t consume the drugs that Jimmy gives her, telling her it's pain relief, and finds out everything they were hiding.

Her quick thinking helps her when Trey tries to kill her and dispose of her and Jimmy’s bodies, but she gets hold of his ankle monitor, which saves her life. The dark and twisty tale in a snowstorm was one of the best storylines of Poker Face and best Charlie Cale moments as she tackles a life-threatening situation alone.


4) Charlie tries to help Jeffrey and Luca (Season 2, Episode 3)

Episode 3 of Poker Face season 2 almost brings Luca and Charlie’s lives in danger as they try to bring Beatrix to the FBI office. With a mole on both sides, it gets even more tricky as Beatrix brings Charlie to check who the mole is, and even after catching that it was Jeffrey, she keeps mum.

However, Danny, the FBI agent, who was Beatrix’s mole, hampers the plan by getting Luca killed with a real bullet from his gun and Charlie being hostage of Beatrix. But even with all that, they still manage to bring Beatrix to their side, which makes Danny attack them and get ambushed between the three. The fun-filled episode also allows Charlie to look forward in her life and plan where she is headed next, making it one of the best Charlie Cale moments.


3) Charlie figures out the sloppy murder of Ava (Season 1, Episode 6)

Other than using her incredible lie-detecting skills, there are many moments in Poker Face where we encounter how Charlie is a good person among liars, and oftentimes tries to help people just out of sheer kindness.

In episode 6 of Poker Face season 1, it was not difficult to solve the case of Ava’s murder, as Michael and Kathleen did a sloppy job of committing and hiding the murder. Therefore, other than solving Ava’s case, she also saves Rebecca’s life from being killed by Kathleen, making it one of Charlie's best moments, as she did it after her friend Paul was suspected of murder.


2) Charlie proves Kate’s lies (Season 2, Episode 9)

New York welcomes Charlie with a new case in the apartment where she will stay in episode 9 of Poker Face season 2. Maddy is killed by Anne’s new partner Kate, and Charlie finds herself in the middle of solving the case.

It doesn’t take her much time, as she finds out who changed the new handle of the laundry room where Maddy died, and tricks Kate into her plan of exposing her. After revealing everything to Anne and recording Kate’s attempt at pushing Charlie off the balcony, Charlie solves the case. Because of this, Maddy had died, making it another of the best Charlie Cale moments from the crime comedy drama.


1) Charlie finds the truth about Gavin’s murder (Season 1, Episode 4)

Regarded as one of the best episodes of Natasha Lyonne’s Charlie Cale performance, this episode also has a Russian Doll reunion as Chloe Sevigny appears in the guest starring role of Ruby Ruin, lead singer of Doxxxology.

With trying to find out who killed the new drummer of Doxxxology, Gavin, who was also Charlie’s friend, Lyonne’s Charlie wreaks havoc in the lives of the band members by contacting their former Deuteronomy or even sneaking onto their bus to find out the truth. Her monologue about the band being involved in the killing of Gavin is one of the best parts of the episode, making it the best moment of Charlie Cale in Poker Face.
