FUBAR's CIA tech whiz, Barry, is every bit the field agent as Luke Brunner himself. He may not rock combat boots or bust through doors with a Glock in hand in every scene, but don't let the nerdy T-shirts and sour patch obsession fool you. Played with a perfect blend of neurotic energy and genius-level IQ by Milan Carter, Barry’s comfort zone domain may be screens and surveillance, but his fingerprints are all over the most high-action missions of FUBAR.
From hacking missile guidance systems mid-chase to orchestrating entire extraction ops from behind a laptop, Barry's brain is the most lethal weapon in the Brunner team's arsenal. Whether he is giving spy gadgets a 21st-century glow-up or pinging facial recognition faster than enemies can reload, Barry proves that brains are brawn in the digital battlefield.
And if you thought Barry was just a lovable nerd, think again. These 10 unforgettable moments from FUBAR will make you rethink what it really means to be a field agent.

The digital DogRace (S1 E1)

FUBAR's opening scene is impressive and perfect in its execution and portrayal of the mechanisms of the CIA world, and poignantly sets the tone of the show. It is humorous with its witty one-liners and inside jokes, filled with action-packed sequences, and most importantly, incredible character writing.
Barry's arc is set from the very first scene of the show, as he is seen assisting Luke Brunner complete his last mission for the CIA. He is a master of his craft and opens doors, unlocks safes, and warns Brunner of possible threats way ahead of time. He proves his role vital from the very start, as without his brilliant mind and quick problem-solving skills, it would be impossible for any agent to get any mission off the ground.
The power! (S1 E2)

After the intense cliffhanger ending of the pilot episode, things were heating up in Boro's Camp. With Luke and Emma along with the British family they were escaping with, captured by Boro and his men after they fled the camp with Boro’s advanced weapon technology, things weren't looking so good.
But just when we thought it was it for the Brunners, Barry and his team came in clutch, guns blazing on a helicopter. A helicopter! Barry proved he is as good a field agent as he is a tech expert — he hangs from the helicopter on a rope and shoots at Boro's men, saving his best friend and his godchild (Uncle Barry all the way!). "You better run!" he said, and they sure did.
Prison Break (S1 E4)

After having volunteered to go on a field mission to rescue, Barry proves once and for all that nothing can stop him from doing the right thing. Despite having heart problems and other health issues, Barry volunteered to break the Great Dane out of the Turkish prison, where he was being held, so that their plan to trap Boro could move forward. After a mini freak out right before he had to jump from the plane, Barry successfully breaks Dane out of his cell and takes his place, to avoid all suspicion.
When Luke wants to abort the mission and get Barry back out, it is Barry who talks sense into him, showing his presence of mind and morality that guides him to do the right thing:
"Luke, no. There are over 900 prisoners in here, and inspection is randomized every day. Chances are that they won't get to my cell by the time you find the reactor, meet with Boro, and come get me. You don't stop Boro, that nuke could kill millions. The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few."
White Lotus (S1E5)

Episode 5 of the Netflix original series holds back no punches, and neither does Barry. When the "old-Cavity-Search Constantine" (in the Great Dane's words), prison guard, comes in for an inspection, Barry is ready. Their tumble is short but deadly, especially for ol' Constantine, as Barry sprays his eyes with perfume and knocks him as he hits the sink and collapses, dead.
The scene is brutal for Barry, although it is played off in the show's usual comedic tone. However, Barry's resilience is evident in this scene, showcasing his ability to think on his feet.
The Poker Game (S1 E6)

When the team needs to intercede and hack information from Boro, via his right-hand man, Cain Khan's phone, it is Barry and his NSA crush Tina who are assigned to go undercover for the job. As they are the only ones whose faces Boro and his men haven't yet seen, Dot had to decide to send them in. Barry, although having had questionable experiences on the field, took up the job for the sake of the mission.
They enter the game, with Barry posing as a Nigerian and Tina as half Indian, half French, and boy, they do steal the show. Their dynamic is incredible, with their instincts and actions being completely in sync, and the chemistry between them reaching a boiling point, it is hard not to admire how far Barry has come. Although their mission doesn't go exactly according to plan, they still manage to get the upload complete against all odds.
Barry in Space? (S2 E4)

In FUBAR Season 2, Episode 4, Barry trades keyboards for the cosmos, proving he is more than just comic relief. Tasked with rerouting a rogue satellite, Barry blasts into orbit, YES!, OUTER SPACE! Armed with nothing but his gadgets and grit.
What begins as a tech mission turns into a full-blown field operation, with Barry navigating zero gravity, technical glitches, and CIA-level pressure. His calmness under cosmic fire and quick thinking saved the day and Greta. This unforgettable moment earns its place on our list and confirms: behind the desk or in orbit, Barry is every bit the field agent FUBAR never knew it needed.
Saving the day! (S2 E5)

Season 2, Episode 5, Barry’s transformation from tech guy to unsung hero is undeniable. Without a proper suit or any support, Barry must manually override his ship and crash it into a rogue satellite on a collision course with a nuclear power plant. As he begins this unattainable task, panic starts to overwhelm him, and he succumbs to the freeze response.
But help arrives in the form of Tina, the love interest, whose previous appearances were not quite as benign as they seemed, since she is revealed to be a spy, sympathetic towards Barry’s cause. Her words ignite something in him. With zero training and sheer heart, Barry collides with destiny, literally. It is reckless, heroic, and peak FUBAR. Barry doesn’t just step up, he soars.
A broken heart (S2 E5)

In FUBAR Season 2, Episode 5, Barry proves again that he is more than just the tech guy, even if hilariously dressed as Thor. Sneaking out of Luke’s house for a secret meetup with Tina, who is rocking a Wonder Woman costume, Barry’s night of “fun time” quickly spirals when Tina is exposed as a double agent.
Chaos erupts as Emma Brunner pursues Tina on foot through an open suburban park. It all ends at a children's playground, where she expertly uses a swing chain to choke Tina out. Barry, in full costume, is left stunned, his heart and world turned upside down.
It's totally FUBAR (S1 E8)

As the climax of the last episode of the first season comes to an end, audiences are left with shock and awe. Luke goes to confess to Tally right before her wedding to Donnie that he has been a CIA officer since before they met, and tries to win her back. However, at that very moment, Boro and his men attack the church, trying to kill everyone, with Boro holding Tally at gunpoint.
It is chaos, bullets flying everywhere, and in the thick of things, even Barry has to take up arms to defend the people he loves, his family. Luke and Emma manage to incapacitate Boro, and with his men down, courtesy of Barry and the rest of his team, they manage to escape unscathed. FUBAR shows once again that when it comes to Love, no one is a bigger protector than Barry Putt.
Rescue Tina (S2 E8)

In Season 2, Episode 8, Barry goes from heartbroken to heroic when he learns Tina truly loves him and has been feeding false intel to the Russians to protect him and the team. But with her now in enemy custody, her secret is about to get her killed.
In a tense car ride with Alden and a surprisingly insightful Great Dane, Barry decides he is done sitting on the sidelines. The trio hatches a plan to break into Russia to rescue Tina. It is reckless, dangerous, and absolutely field agent material. This wild setup for Season 3 proves once and for all that Barry’s heart is as brave as his tech is brilliant.
