The Bosch spinoff series, Ballard, starring Maggie Q as the fan-favorite detective is now available to stream. It narrates the story of Ballard leading her new Cold Case team, which has volunteer members but also receives some help from Harry Bosch himslef.
Season 1 focuses on Ballard finding her ground within a new team and solving various cases, with Sarah Pearlman’s case, which later on became a serial killer case, being the biggest solved by the team. It depicted Ballard’s quick thinking and her obsession with solving the cold cases and catching the criminals, who have evaded the system of law for a long time.

10) Renée Ballard catches Windel Jones (Episode 1)

The Ballard Season 1 opens with a thrilling action sequence where we see the cold-case investigator chasing a culprit. After 10 years of evading being captured by the police, Joens finally comes face to face with his fate when Renée chases him down to a laundromat, but even with shooting at her, he couldn’t escape his fate as Renée disarms him and catches him, giving an exciting start to the series with the cold case department’s first success.
9) Ballard sneaks in to check CCTV footage (Episode 2)

With the help of a DNA match, it was confirmed that they were looking for a serial killer who killed Laura Wilson, Yulia Kravetz, and Sarah Pearlman. In episode 2, she goes to visit the crime scene to find out more about what had happened.
While observing the room, he tried to find out why Yulia was killed and noted that she was killed after cleaning the bathroom. Later, without letting Officer Naylin know, she checks the CCTV footage, where she notices an unknown man who had come to the Sunbeam Lodge with a gun in his pocket. While going through the case with her team, she notices that all the injuries on the deceased, Nick’s body, are on the left side, while there is one strange injury in his right eye, which suggests premeditation.
7) Ballard and her team solve another cold case (Episode 3)

The team began interviewing Nick’s friends who were members of a fraternity brotherhood. During questioning, the boys reveal that there was a book near Nick’s body that they had hidden in their fraternity house due to its content, which might be linked to Nick’s murder.
Without wasting any time, Ballard begins searching for the book and finds it, which had content about men’s body count and the details about the women they had been with. As Ballard peruses through the book, she notices a page missing and calls the last person in the book, and discovers Nick’s girlfriend, Meredith, and with the help of Parker, convinces he rto tell the truth about finding the book and getting into a fight with her boyfreidns, which resulted in her demise.
This becomes another success for the Cold Case team under Ballard’s leadership.
6) Ballard and Parker find crucial information through Javier (Episode 4)

Another one of the best moments of Ballard depicting her investigating skills happened in episode 4 of the new procedural series. In the episode, Ballar and Parker meet Javier, who came with his lawyer and shared some important information with them in exchange for reduced jail time and protection.
As the duo agreed, he revealed that Ibarra was killed by a police officer, who goes by the name of Montana among the cartel and is known for trafficking guns. While looking for who Tony Montana was, they stumble upon the name Anthony Driscoll, which fits their description from physical appearance to the name, as Bllard explains the significance of the name in the line that he worked in.
5) Ballard discovers that Anthony might be responsible for Luis Ibarra’s death (Episode 5)

While it was revealed that Anthony was on court duty during Ibarra’s death, a sit gave him a strong alibi, Ballard was still suspicious and began looking into different directions to find out if he was somewhere else, depicting the lengths she was ready to go to catch the culprits.
Later, with the help of Javier’s lawyer, she discovers crucial information that Anthony’s name was not the the attendance list, making him the prime suspect in Luis Ibarra’s murder.
4) Ballard’s specialty in cold cases helps her find a lead in her new case (Episode 6)

Ballard was the one who discovered that Yulia’s killer had numerous other victims due to the trophies that he had collected. Since the case became bigger with at least 14 suspected victims, it eventually gets shifted to the homicide department, but Ballard is not ready to give up yet and continues her investigation.
Since she couldn’t connect anything with the recent case and the trophies, she delves into closed and cold cases and successfully finds a lead, and informs Captain Berchem about it, so that he can give her back the case, which he agrees to.
3) Ballard defends herself against Anthony (Episode 6)

While she gets her case back, the dangers around her also close in as she wakes up to being strangled by Anthony Driscoll, Ibarra’s murderer. Other than showing her quick thinking while solving the cold cases, Ballard’s action sequences in the series are also among the best moments of the detective.
Although it looked like Anthony had the upper hand, Ballard still managed to outdo her attacker and slit his throat, saving herself.
2) Ballard finds out about Olivas being a part of the LAPD corrupt officers (Episode 8)

While Anthony died, his call logs still helped the team in finding out more about the corrupt police officers, as he was in contact with Olivas. Due to one of her team members, Ballard successfully catches one of the corrupt officers named Manny.
To save himself, he revealed all the details about corrupt officers, including naming Olivas as their leader, which comforts Ballard, as she had wanted to get Olivas arrested for so long for his crimes and the trauma that he had caused her.
1) Ballard and her team finally find out the serial killer (Episode 10)

The Sarah Pearlman case, introduced at the beginning of the series, comes to an end after Ballard discovers who the serial killer is. Ballard and Parker convince Naomi, the sole survivor of the killer, to visit the apartment where the horrifying event took place so that he could remember details about the incident, which happened more than two decades ago.
While Naomi couldn’t point out many details, Ballard gets the hint from her story about just receiving a position and buying her own place as the motive for killing. She deduces that the attacker killed women who were at the highest point of their careers. Ballard also suggests that the real estate office, which was under construction when Naomi worked in her previous job, might be the place from which the killer kept an eye on his victims.
The shocking detail about the case arises when the real estate office sends Ballard the list of subcontractors, and he notices the name, Gary Pearlman, Sarah’s father, who, later, Naomi confirmed to be the serial killer.
