Raj and Howard's friendship in The Big Bang Theory is full of various ebbs nd flows, depicting deep camaraderie and moments of tension. Played by Kunal Nayyar and Simon Helberg, respectively, their characters are known for their close—sometimes hilariously complicated—friendship. Howard wears loud, retro-style clothing and turtlenecks and is known for his over-the-top flirting, while Raj gets mum in front of women, gradually learns to speak with them, and comes from a wealthy family.

While their bond is strong, episodes occasionally explore moments of jealousy, codependency, and personal boundaries. Which, on one hand, adds depth to their bond but also sometimes questions their friendship. Here are 5 such instances.

In the American sitcom The Big Bang Theory, Howard and Raj's characters add some spice with their most consistent and funny dynamics, but are also scarred by some patches of negligence and distrust. Here is the list of such incidents that make us question their friendship, but indeed are also relatable when the bond is such.

Raj's Award Ceremony.

When Raj receives an honour from People magazine, he becomes boastful. This led to his male friends distancing themselves from him, and it was only Penny who understood what it means to receive an award, which is a once-in-a-lifetime moment. Despite their close bond, Howard chooses not to attend the ceremony, leaving Raj to be supported by Penny. This act of neglect highlights moments where Howard takes their friendship for granted and opts out of being a part of such a crucial moment of Raj's life.

The Bachelor Party Incident

During Howard's bachelor party, a drunken Raj starts to blabber about how close they both are, and his tongue slips when he reveals a past threesome involving the two friends during the comic. This disclosure not only embarrasses Howard in front of his guests but also strains his relationship with Bernadette, nearly jeopardising their wedding. This depicts how fragile their friendship was in The Big Bang Theory.

Raj's Feelings for Bernadette

Raj develops a crush on Bernadette while she is dating Howard. Though Raj never acts on his feelings, the situation creates tension between the friends. Not only this, Raj also dreamed of some conditions where Howard had died, and he was left with the responsibility of 'taking care' of his girlfriend.

The two always help each other in getting girls, but one time, when Raj was successfully flirting with a celebrity woman in a train while slightly being influenced by alcohol, it was all going well until Howard intervened and revealed that Raj's drink didn't have any alcohol.

The Bouncy Castle Reconciliation

Howard in The Big Bang Theory, always bullied Raj for his culture, and by season 11, even Raj was done with it. It started impacting his self-confidence. Therefore, Raj seriously ends their friendship, and they never become friends for several episodes— "toxic" friendship break. However, they are seen reconciling while playing in a bouncy castle at a party. Though it happened very loosely, keeping in mind the baggage that was there.

Howard calls Raj's interest feminine

Howard is shown almost bullying Raj for his taste, calling them 'feminine'. These sexist comments gradually Raj learns to absorb, but it was only revealed later that it affects him and he is deeply disturbed by Howar calling him a girl every time for the things he does or the way he does.

In The Big Bang Theory, some instances reflected how certain friendships need to be questioned, where people take each other for granted and hurt feelings under the guise of jokes.
