Legacies is packed with powerful, unpredictable, and often downright terrifying supernatural beings. But what if some of these creatures were strong enough to rival the original vampires themselves?

Yes, the same Originals who practically defined indestructibility. The answer is: absolutely. Some monsters on Legacies didn’t just challenge the Salvatore students—they also could have seriously shaken up the entire Mikaelson dynasty.

Even with witches, hybrids, and werewolves already in the mix, Legacies introduced new creatures that were even more dangerous and unpredictable. These monsters weren’t just one-off threats—they had ancient roots, strange powers, and were tough to defeat. Taking them down often took more than just strength.

Here are five supernatural beings from Legacies that had the kind of power that might’ve made even Klaus think twice.

These 5 supernatural beings from Legacies could’ve given the original vampires a run for their money

1] The Wendigo was not just a monster, it was a force:

The Wendigo was one of Legacies’ most chilling creatures. Taken from Native American legends, it wasn’t just your typical monster—it was the embodiment of “evil that devours.” And that wasn’t just metaphorical. It literally fed on humans, with enhanced speed, durability, and senses that gave it a terrifying edge.

The creature made its mark when it brutally attacked Dorian, showing no fear, no mercy, and no hesitation. MG tried to stop it with a torch, managing only to wound it—not finish it. Its ice-cold heart was its only true weakness. Eventually, the group managed to destroy it, but not without chaos and near death.

Its ability to mimic human form, prey silently, and resist most attacks would’ve made it a nightmare even for someone like Elijah or Rebekah. The Wendigo wasn’t just dangerous—it was unpredictable, which is what made it such a threat in Legacies.

2] Gargoyle Petrotho didn’t just fight but he also judged:

If the Originals had ever crossed paths with Petrotho—the first gargoyle introduced in Legacies—then they would’ve found themselves up against more than brute strength. Gargoyles, as depicted in the series, weren’t just stone creatures. They were protectors, designed to target beings they perceived as threats, including other supernatural ones.

In Season 1, Petrotho arrived with a clear purpose: to protect humans. He didn’t attack Alaric because he wasn’t a threat, but he did go after others with full force. His stone body was resistant to most spells and even immune to fire magic, forcing Hope and Josie to get creative to destroy him.

Julie Plec, while discussing Legacies in an interview with TV Guide, once said:

"We wanted to introduce creatures that weren't just evil for the sake of it, but had their own moral codes."

That moral code made Petrotho dangerous. If the Originals had ever been judged by him, especially considering their violent pasts, they’d likely have been seen as enemies.

3] The Necromancer: Unpredictable, undead, and far too clever:

What made the Necromancer such a pain wasn’t just his power—it was his persistence. He didn’t just appear once in Legacies, cause trouble, and disappear. He kept coming back, each time with new tricks and an even bigger grudge.

With the ability to raise the dead, manipulate souls, and tap into dark magic, he was more than just a nuisance—he was a walking, talking nightmare. Alaric and Dorian even joked he seemed like a video game character, but his powers were rooted in real dark lore.

Despite his sometimes goofy persona, the Necromancer had moments of real threat. He was once a world-renowned sorcerer before being forgotten by history and consumed by Malivore. Even death didn’t stop him. It took Landon Kirby to help him find peace eventually—but not before he caused massive damage across multiple seasons.

He may not have had Klaus’s charisma, but his ability to return from the dead over and over again gave him a kind of immortality the Originals would’ve struggled to counter.

4] Croatoan was the definition of nightmare fuel:

Pulled straight out of the legend of the lost Roanoke Colony, the Croatoan wasn’t just a creative twist—it was an actual horror for Legacies. Its appearance alone was enough to haunt your dreams. With a distorted face and shadowy tendrils, this creature fed on secrets and lies.

Summoned by a witch named Cassandra, the Croatoan wreaked havoc in both the past and present. Lizzie explained it best when she said:

"Only the witch who summoned it can destroy it."

That’s how bound this creature was to ancient magic and secrecy.

Its hunt for Landon at the Salvatore School revealed just how relentless it could be. Hope had to use Cassandra’s token to banish it. But even then, the door wasn’t fully closed.

It exposed the darkness people hid inside. If it had ever faced the Originals, it could’ve exploited their buried guilt and emotional baggage in ways physical violence never could.

5] The Headless Horseman rode straight out of your nightmares:

We all know the legend. But in Legacies, the Headless Horseman wasn’t here for ghost stories—he showed up ready to finght in the Season 1 finale. And unlike the romanticized versions from literature or film, this one wasn’t given a backstory or moral dilemma. He was just there to take what he wanted.

When Landon activated the third artifact, the Horseman arrived with one goal: stop Hope and protect Malivore’s rise. He was fast, ruthless, and impossible to reason with. Hope had to stab his severed head to end his rampage.

This wasn’t a species—it was a singular monster, which made it even harder to predict. If Klaus ever crossed paths with this relentless rider, it wouldn’t be a battle of strategy. It would be a bloodbath.

In a word? Yes. Legacies introduced a whole new breed of supernatural beings who didn’t play by old rules. These creatures weren’t just tough—they were clever, relentless, and some were nearly immortal.

While the Originals were feared for a reason, these five monsters from Legacies would’ve definitely made them sweat. Maybe even bleed.
