Charlie stopped Chelsea from getting a surgery, Charlie did not know Chelsea's middle name, and other moments from Two and a Half Men when Charlie and Chelsea proved that they were not compatible
1. Charlie and Chelsea could not build a relationship of trust

Charlie was introduced as the playboy and womanizing character on Two and a Half Men, and it is only after Jake and Alan moved in that Charlie began to show some growth and self-reflection. However, Charlie continued to have a string of affairs on the show, and there were many love interests for Charlie. However, one that made the most impression on him was Chelsea. Chelsea was Charlie’s second fiancée, and even though the two started off on a good note, there were deep problems in their relationship that were beyond repair. First of all, the two could not create a more balanced and trustful foundation for their relationship. The jealousy aspect was prevalent, and Charlie was always paranoid that Chelsea would find another boyfriend. For example, in one of the episodes, Alan spends the night in jail after getting into a bar fight, and he hires a handsome lawyer called Brad to defend him. Charlie immediately gets worried that Chelsea is attracted to Brad. When Brad invites all of them to a charity event, only Chelsea goes, and Charlie gets paranoid at home that she is having an affair with Brad. Therefore, this is one of the instances in Two and a Half Men, where it is clear that Chelsea and Charlie are not compatible.
2. Charlie and Chelsea could not maintain balance and brought out their worst sides

Two and a Half Men is all about comedy. But hidden within the comedy are painful and heartfelt moments as well. While Charlie often comes across as the cool guy who does not have a care in the world and enjoys his carefree life, the truth is that when he does begin to care for another person, he does not know when to stop. When Chelsea was first introduced as Charlie’s long-term girlfriend, Charlie was ready to overcome his commitment phobia, and Chelsea even moved into Charlie’s house. Charlie finally decided to let go of Mia and wanted to invest himself fully in his relationship with Chelsea. Initially, Chelsea brought out the good side of Charlie and inspired him to make positive changes like being more responsible towards his life and more. However, Charlie began to get insecure as the relationship went on, and he would get annoyed at Alan or Jake if Chelsea was even slightly inconvenienced by them. At one point, it seems that the two had only a surface-level understanding of each other, as Charlie was not interested in getting to know Chelsea. Therefore, when Chelsea and Alan became good friends because of common interests, Charlie got insecure and once again got paranoid about their friendship. This is another instance in Two and a Half Men, where Charlie and Chelsea were the wrong choice for each other.
3. Charlie stops Chelsea from undergoing a breast reduction surgery

One of the more specific instances from the show where the incompatibility between Charlie and Chelsea is seen clearly is when Chelsea decides to undergo a breast reduction surgery on the advice of Alan in season 7. Chelsea confides in Alan that she is having back pains, and Alan simply advises her to get the surgery so that she can feel better. However, when Charlie learns about this, he behaves like an immature and entitled person and gets scared that he will not feel attracted to Chelsea again. Charlie not only gets angry instead of supporting his fiancée, but also kicks Alan out of the house for a small thing, and even humiliates Chelsea into thinking that it was her fault for even thinking about the surgery. Such instances prove that even though Charlie was trying to get better, he still went back to his self-destructive old ways and often reduced women to objects. Chelsea also does not realize that Charlie has not grown up and becomes remorseful and agrees with Charlie’s request, even though she was not wrong. Even though the whole instance is played off in the name of comedy and Charlie comes up with a quirky reason to stop Chelsea by telling her that a reduced bust size will make her butt more noticeable, she should have noticed from such an instance that Charlie is not trying to get to know her on a deeper level. Therefore, the two were not compatible in Two and a Half Men.
4. Charlie is unable to control himself even after being together with Chelsea

Two and a Half Men has some of the most ridiculous scenes that would have made people outraged in today’s times. During one of the episodes in season 6, Charlie and Chelsea begin dating each other, and the two even decide to take things seriously. However, despite Charlie reaffirming in front of everyone that he is going to take the path of commitment and is going to get serious about his relationship, he immediately gets weak when a semi-naked and unconscious woman lies on his bed. Surprisingly, Charlie has to be stopped by Alan to not getting intimate with the woman. The show has some questionable comedic moments, and this is clearly one of those where Charlie has no qualms about assaulting a woman when she is asleep. Further, it takes Charlie an entire episode in Two and a Half Men to realize that he is, in fact, a predator and was wrong for even thinking about the idea of taking advantage of a sleeping person. The worst part is that all of this happens behind Chelsea’s back when she is attending her mother-in-law’s funeral. Therefore, this is another instance where the weak foundation of the relationship between Chelsea and Charlie in Two and a Half Men is revealed.
5. Charlie does not even know Chelsea’s middle name

As mentioned above, Charlie and Chelsea don’t have a stable relationship because it is not grounded in the time-honored values of trust and companionship. Even though it looks like Charlie is trying to become better for Chelsea, it does not take him much time to go back to his previous methods and dismiss all his growth. During one such episode, Chelsea decides to storm out of Charlie’s house and makes it clear that he does not know her and does not even care to know her enough. When Alan asks why Chelsea left the house in such a fury, Charlie is nonchalant and easily says that it is because he does not know her middle name. When Alan reveals her middle name, Charlie is surprised at how Alan knows her more than him. Alan mentioned a very important fact that you have to talk to people to get to know them. However, Charlie is unable to wrap his head around such a simple concept and goes on to eat his breakfast and continues to wonder as to why Chelsea is angry, even though the reason is right in front of him. Instances like these are clear examples of why Charlie and Chelsea were not the best match in Two and a Half Men.
6. Charlie and Chelsea have a different way of looking at things

Another reason for the incompatibility between Charlie and Chelsea in Two and a Half Men is that the two of them have very different ideas about how they want to spend their lives. While this is something that the two should have discussed prior, it is only later on, when things get serious, that the differences between the two begin to come out in Two and a Half Men. Charlie is improving by going to therapy, but he still wants his hedonistic and lazy lifestyle back. On the other hand, Chelsea craves stability like any other woman and is unimpressed with Charlie’s lack of responsibility. At the end of the day, Charlie is still more worried about sports, alcohol, and intimacy, while Chelsea wants their relationship to go further than intimacy and wants a more shared connection where the two know deeply about each other. Therefore, the duo’s relationship in Two and a Half Men proves that they are incompatible.
7. The final breakup between Charlie and Chelsea

The last straw in their relationship was when Chelsea broke up with Charlie because he gave her chlamydia in Two and a Half Men. Clearly, Charlie does not care enough about Chelsea to even inform her that he has STD’s and he does not show any preventive behavior to not let the love of his life get the disease. This reckless nature of Charlie encapsulates his nature as he does not want to outgrow his way of living, and his inability to change in Two and a Half Men. Finally, the unequal commitment, the personality clashes, and the communication mismatch had all resulted in an explosive relationship between the two, and it was about to happen that Charlie and Chelsea would not be able to go on with each other in Two and a Half Men. The relationship between Chelsea and Charlie is a textbook example of how the inability of one person to change for another can lead to the other person’s suffering, and ultimately, the mismatch of personalities can lead to an incompatible relationship.
