"They never have since the 2000": Shark Tank's Kevin O'Leary talks about how Chinese "don't play" by the rules

Shark Tank's Kevin O'Leary shared a Fox News clip on June 3, 2025, where he shared his views on policies, reducing tariffs, and more. The clip was from Fox News's segment Outnumbered, hosted by Emily Compagno.

Along with Mr Wonderful, the panel included Fox News correspondent Molly Line, Kennedy from the podcast Kennedy Saved the World, and OutKick contributor Riley Gaines. As the host mentioned recent developments in tariff negotiations and the situation with China, she asked the Shark Tank investor his thoughts.

O'Leary Ventures chairman recalled recent talks in Geneva. He mentioned that there were discussions about reducing tariffs for rare earth and certain elements. However, he said, the Chinese haven't "complied" with that:

"As you know, in Geneva, a few weeks ago, they talked about reducing tariffs and allowing certain elements like magnets and rare earth, and everything else to come in. They haven't complied with that. The Chinese don't play by the rules, they never have since the 2000. What they've learned is there's no consequence."

While in talks with Emily Compagno on Fox News' Outnumbered segment, Kevin O'Leary talked about stocks "blowing up" and the situation with the tariffs. The Shark Tank mentor stated:

"The market has decided we're gonna end up in a reciprocal 10%. That's what it thinks right now with all those countries. The other stack that also blew up this morning was Trump about China."

He talked about the recent discussions from a few days ago, and there were talks about reducing tariffs. They were about specific minerals and rare earth elements. But, he mentioned how the Chinese "don't play by the rules." He recalled that the same has been happening since 2000. However, they haven't yet learned any "consequences" for their actions.

Sharing more about why such things have kept on happening, Kevin said that it was because of the early administration. It was because they "let" China do whatever they had wanted. Similarly, China expected the Trump administration to do the same. However, that was not going to happen.

Further in their discussion, Shark Tank mentor talked about how President Trump has been continuing to "squeeze" the Chinese heads. With the President's actions, as Kevin O'Leary said, the Chinese are not starting to understand the "message" behind it.

"And that's very important because we haven't done anything in 40 years with these guys. They cheat, they steal, they rip off IP, they don't play by the rules at all. They don't even care. They don't give a poop. That's the way I like to put it in quits."

He also talked about having his business there in China, and he understood how things have been working ever since. Mr Wonderful also applauded the Trump administration and the China policy.
