As Vince Gilligan's Pluribus paces toward its high-stakes Season 1 finale, the buzz surrounding Apple TV+’s breakout thriller continues to intensify. Series star Rhea Seehorn has stoked that excitement even further by revealing a major update about Season 2 which was confirmed shortly after the two-episode Season 1 premiere.

Pluribus follows author Carol Sturka as one of the 13 people immune to an extraterrestrial virus that has transformed the rest of humanity into a collective hive mind. The series explores Carol's efforts as she struggles to find the origin of this mysterious hive mind and a way to reverse the Joining.

Rhea Seehorn shared an exciting update about Pluribus Season 2 in a recent interview with Deadline:

''They are in the writers room [for Season 2] now, and I have not asked any questions yet. I might just be surprised, right along with the audience. I’ll play it before they’ll see it, but I might, I might wait. I don’t know.''

More on this in our story.

Apple TV's Pluribus is confirmed for Season 2

The two-episode premiere of Pluribus that practically broke the Internet and left Gilligan fans buzzing with questions and fan theories proved that Apple TV's newest sci-fi series deserves a second season order. The show was quickly renewed for Season 2 shortly after the Season 1 premiere on Apple TV.

As Gilligan's series is gradually pacing towards its Season 1 finale, fans are already anticipating the sophomore season. Adding some fuel to the fire, Seehorn revealed to Variety:

''As far as the finale, I loved it. I was immediately, desperately needing Season 2.''

Now that the actress has confirmed that the writer's room for Pluribus Season 2 is officially open, we will likely get updates about the sophomore season soon. Considering the intricate plot and characters, the freshman season will likely conclude with more questions than answers, setting the stage for the sophomore season. Additionally, Seehorn's comment of 'desperately needing Season 2' suggests the Season 1 finale will go out with a bang, likely keeping its fans in suspense.

While the Better Call Saul actress was naturally tight-lipped about the plot details for Pluribus Season 2, she shared her excitement about Carol and her arc in the upcoming season:

''I know Vince and his incredible team of writers, they’re going to keep expanding it. They never just rev in place, but I hope to just keep getting to play with the complexity and the incredible authenticity of how human he’s allowing her to be and allowing me to play her.''

She added:

''She really is this ultimate reluctant hero that is an Everyman, which I think is really fun up against his sci-fi backdrop, because she’s often behaving in ways that are not the best, but many of us can completely identify with why. So I hope we continue. This sort of very every man human in the middle of what’s being asked of her. [It] feels superhuman some days.''

Vince Gilligan previously told Variety that he has a “four-season plan” for Pluribus and noted that the team is committed to moving forward with more seasons for as long as Rhea Seehorn remains part of the series. Pluribus recently received the Best Drama Series nominations in the Critics' Choice and Golden Globe Awards, with Best Actress in a Drama Series nominations for Rhea Seehorn.

With only three episodes remaining in Season 1, fans are already anticipating the freshman season finale, which will be released on Apple TV on December 26.
