Canadian actress Kayla Wallace is spilling the beans on her character's new challenges and roles in Landman Season 2, the latest chapter of Taylor Sheridan's hit neo-Western drama series, which debuted in November 2025 on Paramount+.

The When Calls the Heart fame actress plays the no-nonsense lawyer Rebecca, who debuted in the second episode of Landman Season 1. While Rebecca initially butted heads with Tommy Norris (Billy Bob Thornton), she became the in-house counsel of M-Tex after Monty's death and Tommy's promotion to the company's president.

In an interview with US Weekly, Kayla Wallace teased some new challenges and changes for Rebecca in Landman Season 2, after becoming a part of the M-Tex family:

“This is such a big change for her. She’s always going to question her life and she’s always going to question everything and reassess.”

More on this in our story.

Kayla Wallace teases Rebecca's expanded role in Landman Season 2

While Rebecca initially had an intense start with Tommy Norris in Landman, she finally became a part of the M-Tex family in the sophomore season, under the new leadership of Tommy and Cami, after the tragic death of Monty Miller in the season 1 finale.

Rebecca proved that her aggressive negotiation tactics and no-nonsense attitude are still intact when she handled a damages clause alleged by an insurance company on M-Tex in Landman Season 2 Episode 2. The company alleged that M-Tex misappropriated a $420 million settlement after its Louisiana rig was damaged by a hurricane. However, Rebecca managed to find a loophole when she discovered that the insurance company paid a lump sum of compensation that voided their clause. Rebecca turned out to be a valuable asset for M-Tex and Tommy after she impressively handled the case and persuaded the company to withdraw their litigation.

While Rebecca appears flawless and always in control, Wallace teases that Landman Season 2 will expand her role and feature a different side of her personality:

“People will get to see some more cracks in her personality. And she’s definitely going to face some challenges in the workplace too.”

She added:

“Season 1, there was basically no smiling from her. Now we’re starting to see her human. She’s not a perfectly put together person...We also see her kind of growing into this family. M-Tex is in trouble and she’s there in an instant. You see this juxtaposition where it is not really a natural thing for her to be a team member. She’s kind of a lone wolf and one for her own but she’s holding onto the family a little bit.”

Landman Season 2 teased a romantic angle in Rebecca's story

The recently released episode in Landman Season 2 titled "Dancing Rainbows" saw Rebecca on a turbulent flight back to Midland, which activated her fear of flying. However, her fears were brilliantly overcome by heavy doses of alcohol and the company of the charming newcomer and an oil company gas engineer, Charlie Newsom (played by Guy Burnet). The episode immediately establishes a clear 'opposites attract' between Rebecca and Charlie, but the former can't help but feel a connection with the latter.

Breaking down Burnet's debut in Landman Season 2 and his character's connection with Rebecca, Kayla Wallace said:

“He’s just the total opposite of her. First of all, he’s dirty and working in the fields. She’s always put together in her stilettos. She’s very uptight and runs very in control of everything. He’s this relaxed, easy going and happy go lucky guy.”

It looks like the latest season is finally adding another couple to its list, with Rebecca and Charlie. The actress further added that the upcoming episode will explore many new sides of her character and will take the viewers on a ride:

“She has these little flaws...People will get to see even more of that — more of the humanity in her.”

Landman Season 2 releases weekly episodes every Sunday on Paramount+.
