Taylor Kitsch's Ben Edwards finally debuted in his The Terminal List spin-off series in August 2025. Much like Titus Welliver's Bosch universe, Amazon Prime Video expanded Jack Carr's action thriller universe with The Terminal List: Dark Wolf, a prequel to the 2022 series.

Dark Wolf is set seven years before the events of The Terminal List and explores Ben Edwards' journey, first as a Navy SEAL, and then as a shady CIA operative. Additionally, the spin-off series also introduced Raife Hastings (Tom Hopper), a fellow Navy SEAL officer and brother to Edwards and James Reece (Chris Pratt).

While The Terminal List: Dark Wolf is essentially centered around Ben Edwards, Hopper's Raife Hastings emerged as the rising character in the universe. His loyalty, code of Brotherhood, and sense of duty towards both Edwards and Reece quickly made him a fan-favorite character, and the makers should certainly turn towards him for the next spin-off.

More on this in our story.

Raife Hastings deserves his own The Terminal List spin-off series

Reece and Edwards' Brotherhood found its third missing piece when Tom Hopper was introduced as Raife Hastings in The Terminal List: Dark Wolf.

As a spin-off to the parent series, Dark Wolf explored the men's relationship and time in the Navy SEALs and how Hastings was a proverbial brother to both Reece and Edwards. While Hastings' introduction aided in the show's world-building, it also revealed much about the trio's relationship during their early days and the reason for their falling out. When Hastings helped Reece in his mission in the parent series, Edwards expressed his shock. However, Reece's trust only suggests the deep relationship between the characters and Hastings' importance in the universe.

Raife Hastings deserves his own The Terminal List spin-off series because his narrative is brimming with opportunities. While Dark Wolf featured some bits and pieces about his early friendship with Reece and how the two connected in college over rugby and their shared military background, there is much to explore. Additionally, Hopper's flawless portrayal has already made Hastings a fan-favorite character, and the audience would be excited to explore his backstory.

Raife Hastings is a nuanced character in The Terminal List: Dark Wolf

Kitsch's Edwards finally got the spotlight he deserved in Dark Wolf, but the spin-off series also gave us Raife Hastings, who acts as the perfect foil to Edwards. While Edwards is violent, quick to make decisions, and easily transitions into Jed Haverford's covert CIA operation, Hastings is calm, intuitive, and skeptical about Haverford. He reluctantly accepts the offer to join the CIA team because of his brother, Edwards.

However, even while being under Haverford's command, Hastings never stopped questioning his leadership qualities and true motives. On the one hand, while Edwards adapted from being a soldier to this shady CIA operation, Hastings had trouble forgetting his Brotherhood code. Being in Haverford's shady team in The Terminal List: Dark Wolf, threatened Hastings' code of honor, and he felt conflicted throughout the series. Hopper's nuanced portrayal perfectly brought out all the layers of the character, and Hastings checks all the boxes to have his own spin-off series.

Hastings' The Terminal List spin-off series should also explore his origin story

Lastly, Hastings deserves his own spin-off series because of his mysterious (yet fascinating) background. It is revealed that Hastings is a Rhodesian hunter, and his family left Rhodesia and eventually settled in the US. He met Reece on the University of Montana rugby team, and the young men immediately connected and have been best friends ever since. These details suggest that Hastings had an interesting past in Rhodesia, and his family history could come into the spotlight in the spin-off.

Additionally, a Hastings-centered spin-off could also explore his relationship with his father, who is a decorated soldier and revered in the US Intelligence. While Dark Wolf has featured several mentions of Hastings' legendary father, the audience never meets him on-screen.

This will also introduce another iconic character in the show's universe, and fans will get a fascinating peek into Hastings' personal life.
