Alien: Earth Episode 5, titled In Space, No One... dropped on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, and it explores the reasons why Maginot crashed into Earth. Previously, in Episode 4, we saw how Wendy, the hybrid with a human brain and consciousness combined with a synthetic body, was able to communicate with a baby Xenomorph. In Alien: Earth Episode 5, we are thrown into the beginning of chaos, a few days before the USCSS Maginot crashed into Earth.

The episode starts with Morrow (Babou Ceesay), the former Chief Security Officer of the Maginot, being awakened by a fire and two alien specimens on the loose. This causes chaos, with the Captain dead, and Morrow is determined to find out how the fire started and why the crates were open. As he investigates, he goes to the control room to learn about the fire and the facehugger attack.

Meanwhile, he finds letters from his daughter and begins to read them. The letters take him on a walk down memory lane. The viewers learn about his tragic past and how he lost his daughter years ago. What makes the sequence even more emotional is that the flashback was shot with Ceesay's real-life daughter.

Alien: Earth Episode 5: Babou Ceesay on filming an emotional scene with his real-life daughter

In an interview with Variety, Babou Ceeay, who plays Morrow, the chief security officer of Maginot, opened up about filming an emotional scene with his real-life daughter. He noted,

"When I found out that he had a daughter and that she had died in the way that she had, it struck a chord much deeper in me. The actress playing my daughter is my real daughter."

Ceesay explained how Alien: Earth creator Noah Hawley teased the idea of casting his real daughter in the role.

"We were shooting, and they were looking for someone to play my daughter, and my daughter was out there [in Thailand] with me going to school, with my son and my wife. Noah was like, what would you think if they’d use her letters, or they’d use a baby picture. Imagine, in that scene, I’m looking at that — it goes to another level. Even talking about it now affects me."

In a heart-wrenching memory sequence, we see Morrow and his young daughter by the beach. Morrow tells his daughter to look at the sky whenever he misses her and asks her to be good while he's away. Morrow knew the mission would take years, but he wasn't aware that it would leave him completely devoid of emotions.

Heartbroken, he crumples a letter revealing that his 19-year-old daughter Estelle had died in a fire. He received the letter during his eighth year of the mission.

What does Morrow do in Alien: Earth Episode 5?

When Morrow begins his investigation, he quickly discovers that Petrovich (Enzo Celenti) has a connection with Boy Kavalier. He learns that Petrovich made a deal with Kavalier to hand over the alien specimens, and in return, he would participate in Kavalier's experiment to create hybrids with human brains. Upon discovering this, Morrow makes it his mission to sabotage the deal and eliminate Petrovich.

After Morrow kills Petrovich, he seals himself in the control room, deliberately leaving Zaveri behind and letting her die at the hands of the Xenomorphs. He then sets the ship on a collision course, ensuring the cargo survives. After the crash, Morrow meets Yutani on Earth and vows to recover the specimens and take revenge on Boy Kavalier.

In the end, we learn how Morrow was saved by Yutani's grandmother, who gave him a new arm, turning him into a cyborg. This explains his loyalty.
