It appears that Doctor Who Season 15 is finally steering the Doctor towards his origins and bringing back the character's original curiosity and cleverness that fans have missed in the Fifteenth Doctor.
Season 15 Episode 3 'The Well' follows the doctor and Belinda after they land on a hostile Planet, where Shaya's platoon is mining for carbon. Following a brutal massacre within the crew, they take her to Aliss, the only survivor.
However, the doctor's keen eye predicts that all is not as it seems and reveals the episode's biggest twist in advance, portraying his cleverness. He predicts that the Midnight monster (the episode was a sequel to Season 4 'Midnight') has attached itself to Aliss, making her both the killer and the victim.

The Doctor revealed the Doctor Who Season 15 Episode 3 twist even before it actually happened
Proving that he is certainly the smartest and the most observant person in the room, Ncuti Gatwa's doctor reveals the Episode 3 twist ahead of time.
After mere minutes of their landing on Planet 6-7-6-7 and learning about the deadly massacre among the crew, the doctor revealed a key detail about the only survivor, which turned out to be the big twist of the episode.
Five minutes into Doctor Who 'The Well', Shaya takes the doctor and Belinda to Aliss' room, the only surviving crew member of the team. While Shaya is suspicious of Aliss, Belinda thinks that she is a victim of the massacre and should be treated for her wounds.
However, the doctor was smart enough to predict that the person in the room was both the killer and the survivor. While this contradictory statement did not make much sense then, it is revealed (after 15 minutes) that the Midnight monster has attached itself to Aliss' body, and thus Aliss is, in fact, both the killer and the survivor now.
Aliss also has to kill her best friend in self-defense from the monster, and unknowingly, she becomes a threat to her crew while also being a victim.
Doctor Who: 'The Well' was a sequel to Season 4's 'Midnight'
While fans might have missed the subtle hints in Doctor Who's latest episode, it was a direct sequel to Season 4 Episode 10 'Midnight', where David Tennant's Doctor is trapped on the Planet Midnight, whose surface was covered with diamonds.
The episode featured numerous callbacks to establish its connection to Midnight. Firstly, when Shaya is explaining the planet to Doctor and Belinda, she says:
"This is Planet 6-7-6-7 and the atmosphere is charged with galvanic radiation."
Eagle-eyed fans might remember that the Midnight Planet was also covered in galvanic radiations, suggesting that the hostile planet might be the one featured in Season 4. Secondly, she reveals that her crew is mining the planet for carbon 46, and diamonds, of course, are made of carbon, which is what Midnight's surface was covered with in Season 4.
In addition to these subtle hints, Doctor Who Season 15's twist established that the monster that attached itself to Aliss knew the Doctor, suggesting a connection between them. Since TARDIS always takes the Doctor to places he is needed the most, it makes sense for it to bring the Doctor back face to face with the Midnight monster once again.
Doctor Who Season 15 is currently streaming internationally on Disney+.
