Netflix is once again continuing its streak of K-dramas, and this time, award-winning South Korean actor Kim Nam-gil will lead the cast of the upcoming action series Trigger, set for a July release. The disaster thriller show will center on a retired police officer named Lee Do (portrayed by Nam-gil) who once again resorts to old ways to bring order in a world hit by a random supply of free guns.

Recently, Netflix dropped the first official teaser for Trigger. Fans are already speaking highly of Kim Nam-gil's on-screen presence (also well known for shows like Portrait of a Beauty, Pandora, and The Fiery Priest), and the comments section on different social media platforms is already flooded. One such user, wkjtl, on YouTube, praised the actor, saying:

"You know its a masterpiece when KIM NAM GIL in it. This man never disappoints especially when he holds guns."

Fans are going crazy over Kim Nam-gil's latest casting in the upcoming K-drama Trigger

The official synopsis of Trigger, per IMDb, reads:

"An action-thriller drama about two men who are trying to solve the mess after firearms is suddenly widely available in South Korea, which used to be a gun-free country, through an unknown source."

Kim Nam-gil will be joined by South Korean star Kim Young Kwang (known for hit projects like Pinocchio and The Secret Life of My Secretary) in the role of an enigmatic guy named Moon Baek, whose association with Nam-gil's character is crucial to the plot. Kwon Oh Seung is at the helm of the project, which is so far garnering a lot of social media buzz owing to Kim Nam-gil's casting.

A user named hanimay6843 on YouTube has spoken highly of the actor, highlighting that many viewers are watching the trailer (and loving it) only because of him. To quote the exact words of the fan:

"I see I'm not the only one here for Kim Nam Gil."

While scrolling through the comments section, it becomes evident that a majority of the hype and support are because of Kim. One of the fans, KEmpireReacts on YouTube, has even drawn a reference from another hit Nam-gil show (The Fiery Priest - 2019), saying:

"Woww... Our fiery Priest is in a new Project? I'm looking forward to this."

Another user has talked about binge-watching Trigger, and in the same comment, the name of the star is again a common mention. To quote the exact words of user hazwaniradhi1161 on YouTube:

"Wowwww, Kim Nam Gil is back!!!! Can't wait to binge-watch it."

As the latest teaser of Trigger unfolds, South Korea is seen to have been hit by a state of anarchy with 'random assaults and homicides' happening throughout the country. Mysterious packages and boxes are being shipped nationwide with free arms.

One of the main questions that remain to be answered is (as we see in the teaser) how things would turn out if every single South Korean had a gun. Also, how will Nam-gil's Lee Do save the day, and will taking up arms in his own hands once again be the way out? All the answers lie on the other end of the 'Trigger,' and fans will have to wait till July 25, 2025, for the series to premiere on Netflix.
