A team of special agents from the Naval Criminal Investigative Service is the focus of the American military police procedural series NCIS. NCIS: Los Angeles, NCIS: New Orleans, NCIS: Hawaiʻi, NCIS: Sydney, NCIS: Origins, and NCIS: Tony & Ziva are some of the NCIS spin-offs. After making its debut in two JAG episodes, the show debuted on CBS in 2003.

The investigation of crimes by Navy and Marine Corps personnel by the Major Case Response Team is the main focus of the narrative. It went on to become one of America's most popular shows despite its low initial ratings, and it is still a popular primetime series today.

Catherine Bell is willing to play Mac again in the NCIS universe, but only if the story demonstrates genuine concern for her and Harm's relationship. She wants a meaningful continuation, preferably with Mac in a significant role and the two actually reconciling, after being disappointed by their brief NCIS: LA reunion.

Catherine Bell, who played Sarah "Mac" MacKenzie on JAG and then NCIS: Los Angeles, has shown an interest in returning to the NCIS universe, but there is one condition. Bell prefers a significant and rewarding comeback for her character after decades of involvement with the firm and years of fan support, rather than a fleeting cameo or unresolved plot.

Her most recent NCIS: LA appearances were in seasons 10 and 11, where she and David James Elliott played Mac and Harm again. Fans believed the cherished couple may finally find peace after JAG's famous coin-flip ending left their future uncertain. Instead, their reunion showed that they had split up and been apart for almost a decade. Bell acknowledged that she experienced many admirers' disappointment. Speaking at Motor City Comic Con, she said that their return "was a little disappointing" because longtime fans had anticipated seeing Mac and Harm together rather than separately.

Bell went on to remark that if Mac returns, the plot should reflect her personality and ideals. She sees Mac as a well-known, self-assured leader with experience who is still working for the government. The most essential thing she wants to see is how Mac and Harm's relationship grows. If she reprises the role, she wants to tell their narrative more thoughtfully, ideally concentrating on a future in which the two reconcile rather than remaining emotionally estranged.

Furthermore, David James Elliott has remarked that he would want to perform the role again, and that a JAG revival is not completely out of the question and with NCIS: Origins and NCIS: Tony & Ziva expanding the NCIS universe once again, the show has an excellent opportunity to meaningfully revisit older characters. Donald P. Bellisario's continued involvement also allows for the creation of new stories related to the original series.

There is still no official date for Mac's comeback. Because JAG is sometimes overshadowed by the NCIS brand, it is more challenging to convince the network to renew the original legal drama. Bell's enthusiasm, Elliott's curiosity, and ongoing fan support, however, imply that the possibility is still open.

Bell's stance is unambiguous for the time being: she is open to reprising her role as Mac, but only if the narrative gives her character and her relationship with Harm the satisfying chapter they merit. The event would be well-prepared for fans who have followed them for almost thirty years.
