Tom Cruise visited the set of NCIS: Origins, giving the cast a huge suprise

Season 2 NCIS: Origins, the CBS show which serves as a prequel to NCIS, has just premiered on October 14, 2025. The show follows a younger Leroy Jethro Gibbs and is set in 1991, when he started his career as an NCIS agent. The show is narrated by Mark Harmon, who played the older Leroy Jethro Gibbs in NCIS. Around the time of the premiere of Season 2, the cast and crew of the show received a huge surprise when a VIP visited their sets.

As the official Instagram account of the NCIS franchise (@ncisverse) posted on Instagram (@ncisverse), Tom Cruise had visited the sets of NCIS: Origins, offering the cast and crew a surprise.

NCIS: Origins Season 1 ended on a cliffhanger with Cecilia Dominguez, aka, getting into a dangerous car crash, and us not knowing whether she survives it or not. But NCIS: Origins Season 2's premiere episode showed that she is indeed alive, but all problems are not solved. Her accident will have other consequences, like Gibbs feeling guilty. Off-screen, the cast and crew of the show were quite surprised, yet happy by Tom Cruise visiting the set when he was at the Paramount lot for an unknown professional commitment.

The NICIS franchise posted a picture of Tom Cruise with NICIS: Origins co-creator David J. North, Austin Stowell who plays Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs, Daniel Bellomy, who plays Evidence Custodian's assistant, Herman Daniels Tom Cruise, Caleb Foote, who plays Special Agent Bernard Randolf, Tyla Abercrumbie, who plays Field Operation Support Officer Mary Jo Hayes, and Taylor Estevez, a special effects professional. The picture was captioned as,

A VIP on set!✨👏
While on the @paramountco lot, Tom Cruise stopped by the set of NCIS: Origins to say hi!

The show's co-creator, David J. North, also shared a few pictures with Tom Cruise and some of Cruise on set, on Instagram, with the caption,

"As we kick off a new season of Origins, it was awesome to have @tomcruise stop by yesterday to hang out and show some much support to our show and the entire @ncisverse.
@ginalucita and I took inspo from the bar in Top Gun when we dreamt up our bar, Daly's. So we were stoked he approved lol. Thanks for all the advice and the love, Tom."

Other than the cast members already mentioned, NCIS: Origins stars Kyle Schmid as Special Agent Mike Franks, Mariel Molino as Special Agent Cecilia Dominguez, Diany Rodriguez as Special Agent Vera Strickland, Tonantzin Carmelo as Tish Kwa'la, Patrick Fischler as Special Agent in Charge Cliff Wheeler, Julian Black Antelope as Chief Medical Examiner Témet Téngalkat, Michael Harney as Richard Kowalski, Bobby Moynihan as Woodrow Browne, Ely Henry as Philip Elertson, Matthew Henerson as Carl Loughlin, Eric Normington as Roger Murphy, Aaron Wilton as Special Agent JJ Henneberry, and Robert Taylor as Jackson Gibbs, Jethro's father, among others.

NICIS: Origins is created by Gina Lucita Monreal and David J. North, who also serve as executive producers along with Mark Harmon, Sean Harmon, and Niels Arden Oplev. Michele Greco and Austin Stowell are producers on the show, and the production companies behind the show are J. Bird, Ceci Bear Productions, Wings Productions, and CBS Studios.

New episodes of NICIS: Origins come out on Tuesdays on CBS and will be available for streaming on Paramount+.
