After Netflix's animated adaptation, Prime Video is steadily building up the cast for the live-action adaptation of Tomb Raider. The project is set to be headed by creator, writer, and executive producer Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Fleabag). After Prime Video greenlit the project back in 2024, Sophie Turner, known most for her iconic role in Game of Thrones, was the first addition, and she is set to play Lara Croft.

Announcing Turner's addition to the project, Waller-Bridge said:

"I’m so excited to announce the formidable Sophie Turner as our Lara. It is not very often you get to make a show of this scale with a character you grew up loving. Get your artifacts out ... Croft is coming ..."

After Turner, the next addition to the cast is a rising British actor, Martin Bobb-Semple. Semple's most prominent acting credit is a series lead role on CW's All American: Homecoming as Orlando Johnson. He also has credits such as Peacock's One of Us Is Lying and Netflix's Free Reign and So Awkward to his name. Tomb Raider is set to be an exciting and major role for Semple, as he is set to star in a series regular role alongside Turner. Details about his character have not been revealed as of now.

According to reports, Jonathan van Tulleken (Shogun and Dope Thief) is set to serve as director as well as EP. Tulleken and Waller-Bridge will be joined by Chad Hodge as co-showrunner and EP.

Talking about the live-action adaptation, Prime Video executive Vernon Sanders said:

"Lara Croft is one of the most recognizable and iconic video game characters of all time. We are thrilled to have the wonderfully talented Sophie Turner bring this character to life who is defined by her courage, strength, and unshakable resolve. Led by the brilliant Phoebe Waller-Bridge, this series will honor the beloved Tomb Raider legacy while delivering fresh adventures to fans worldwide."
