Cillian Murphy's Tommy Shelby had to fake his own death in the Peaky Blinders to get away, but even that didn't last, and the Shelby clan is returning yet again. Netflix released a brand-new first-look teaser at the upcoming sequel to the hit crime drama series, set to be released in select theaters on March 6 and on Netflix on March 20.

The teaser finds Cillian Murphy's Tommy living an isolated life until someone asks him about his past as the gypsy gangster, and he replies he isn't that man anymore. Tommy might think he's not that man anymore, but the Peaky Blinders are coming back and how.

The 2022 finale of Peaky Blinders found Cillian Murphy's Thomas Shelby faking his own death to get away and start a new life, but Netflix's The Immortal Man brings him right back. The official logline regarding the upcoming sequel reads:

Birmingham, 1940. Amidst the chaos of WWII, Tommy Shelby is driven back from a self-imposed exile to face his most destructive reckoning yet. With the future of the family and the country at stake, Tommy must face his own demons, and choose whether to confront his legacy, or burn it to the ground. By order of the Peaky Blinders…

Steven Knight has previously explained that this chapter is set to be an explosive step back into the story, and the teaser is so in more ways than one. In the midst of Tommy Shelby's isolated and cold life, where he's no longer the "famous gypsy gangster," we find glimpses of dramatic events, fires, explosions, and even a gathering of people who appear to be Nazis. This teaser takes the audience and Tommy right back into the cold and violent country.

Apart from Cillian Murphy's Thomas Shelby, Sophie Rundle, Stephen Graham, and Ned Dennehy are reprising their roles as Ada Thorne, Hayden Stagg, and Charlie Strong, respectively. The cast of Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man also includes Rebecca Ferguson, Tim Roth, Packy Lee, Ian Peck, Jay Lycurgo, and Barry Keoghan. The teaser gives a brief look at some of the newcomers, including Barry Keoghan; however, Rebecca Ferguson is nowhere to be seen as of now.

Talking about his return to the franchise, Cillian Murphy revealed:

"It seems like Tommy Shelby wasn’t finished with me. It is very gratifying to be re-collaborating with Steven Knight and Tom Harper on the film version of Peaky Blinders. This is one for the fans."

While Netflix is still keeping most of the plot under wraps for now, we do know that the series finds the Shelby clan right in the midst of the Second World War, and as the country is at war, so is the Shelby clan. We are yet to find out what will compel Thomas to return to the man he once left behind, but whatever it is, it will be one for the books.
