Andor
Andor depicts the dark side of Star Wars. It takes place five years before Rogue One and follows the protagonist, Cassian Andor, a rebel spy drawn to the rebellion against the Galactic Empire. The show portrays the themes of rebellion and sacrifice.
Andor Season 1 premiered on 21st September 2022, while the season 2 was released on 22nd April 2025 and is now ongoing with new episodes coming every Tuesday. It has been appreciated for its in-depth storyline revolving around the politics of the Empire, which makes it uniquely different from all other franchise projects.
Tony Gilroy is the developer of Andor, which is released only on Disney+, while the cast includes Diego Luna as Andor, Stellan Skarsgård, Genevieve O'Reilly, and Adria Arjona. Season 1 and already released episodes of season 2 are available for streaming on Disney+.
The Mandalorian
The Mandalorian follows the story of a lone bounty hunter travelling through the galaxy with a mysterious child known as Grogu. Fans also like to call him Baby Yoda because he is of the same species as Yoda and looks similar. The show begins after the fall of the Empire and before the rise of the First Order. While it has the signature Star Wars sci-fi moments, it is also known for the heartfelt, almost parent-child relationship the Mandalorian shares with Grogu.
Premiering on 12th November, 2019, it was the first live-action Star Wars series. The show completed its third season on 19th April, 2023. Each season consists of eight episodes, typically running 30–45 minutes, and a fourth season is not expected to follow.
Created by Jon Favreau, the show stars Pedro Pascal as Din Djarin, David Accord a the voice actor for Grogu, with appearances from Carl Weathers, Giancarlo Esposito, and Rosario Dawson. The complete series is available to stream exclusively on Disney+.
Star Wars: The Clone Wars
Star Wars: The Clone Wars takes place during the period between Chapter II: Attack of the Clones and Chapter III: Revenge of the Sith. It is an animated series, and through the show, we get to see a significant development in Anakin Skywalker’s character. Besides, we are also introduced to famous characters like Ahsoka Tano before the series Ahsoka (2023). The series displays themes of conflict, loyalty, and leadership.
The animated series originally aired from 2008 to 2013 on Cartoon Network. It then took a short break before it returned for its season 6 on Netflix in 2014. Disney later acquired the franchise, and the show returned for a final season on Disney+ in 2020. Across its run, it had 133 episodes.
George Lucas created the show and Dave Filoni developed it. The animated series features talents like Matt Lanter (Anakin), Ashley Eckstein (Ahsoka), and James Arnold Taylor (Obi-Wan). The show is fully available to stream on Disney+.
