A woman named April marries a man named Matt. They become a family of four, which leads them to find a bigger house to settle in. When they find a dilapidated house in a posh locality, they decide to get the house. However, soon after moving in, things began to get complicated for them. This new house had stories from the past. These were the reasons that began to haunt them. The family began to feel the presence of someone who was constantly trying to make them move away from the house.

The presence even torments them, and they face many paranormal activities. This finally makes them call for a medium to help cleanse the house. Though the first story has Ed and Lorraine Warren, this story does not have them. The medium understands the past of the house and cleanses the spirit that was haunting the family.

Through the interviews, the horrifying experience of the family could be understood. James Wan helms True Haunting, making this docuseries a thrilling experience to watch. Though usually there are dramatisations of the horror elements, this docuseries depicts a realistic picture, which further enhances the horror element. Through the interviews of the people involved, we get an emotional testimony of the victims.

True Haunting, unlike many other horror TV shows and movies, does not focus on the quick jump scares. This series adopts a more chilling route. There is a deliberate feel to the overall of the stories.

The aspect of telling the stories through the format of episodes raises the level of intensity. The series builds a distinct level of dread by depicting the psychological trauma that the victims went through.
