True Haunting, the newest docuseries on Netflix that explores two distinct haunting cases, comes with a distinct shade of darkness that will leave an impact. Helmed by James Wan, True Haunting does not over dramatise the experiences of the victims, but rather gives a realistic depiction of the experiences that the people went through. The second case, which is This House Murdered Me, tells the horrifying story of April and her family after they move to a new house in a posh locality.
Through the recounting of the incidents in the interview, we get a clear picture of the horrifying details of the incident. April and her family went through a really difficult time. Yet it did not break her family apart. Rather, the family remained united and stayed together, looking for a better start after the incident. Now, April works to help others, and Matt maintains a fairly private life.
Where are True Haunting’s April and Matt Wilson now?
In the second case, This House Murdered Me, True Haunting dives into the horrifying experiences that April and her family went through right after moving into their new house. What started as the beginning of their beautiful journey as a family soon turned sour when each of them began to feel the presence of a being in their house, followed by supernatural experiences.
Their son began to experience nightmares, and April was almost about to get drowned. They all heard noises throughout the house, warning them to vacate the house. Soon, they decided to do a sage cleansing to clear the house of the negative energy. Though the sage cleansing helped, they were never able to stay in the house longer.

They soon left the house and moved to a new place. The experiences in the house were too much for them to stay there. Matt tried to have a private life. However, April wanted to use her platform to speak about the dangerous experiences that she had. She knew her words would be helpful for people.
Soon, she began to get recognition for her work, and her appearance in Investigation Discovery’s A Haunting: The Forgotten gained public appreciation. In this, she recounted her experiences in detail. Her story gained the attention of Douglas Burchill, who wrote about their experiences in the book Harvesting Shadows: The True Story of A Haunting: The Forgotten.
Both Matt and April made immense contributions to the book and successfully collaborated. Adding April and Matt’s contributions to the book led to a proper and legitimate recounting of the story, which further gained public attention.
April is now working on a project that will be dropping in November. Releasing Shadows: A Four-Week Journal Work Course is the project she is working on now. Matt and April also have a website where they speak about their experiences and what these experiences have taught them.
April’s son, Shane, faced the most trauma from their time in the house. Shane was the first one who notice Benjamin’s presence, as can be seen in True Haunting. Benjamin used to live in the house. He used to torture his children and wife. He even burned his children alive.
He haunted the house after April, and her family moved in. During the sage cleansing, he even tried to create a hindrance. However, in the end, he was not successful. The sage cleansing was successful in bringing peace back to the house.
