South Korean actors Ma Dong-seok and Park Hyun-sik's latest K-drama, Twelve, has finally wrapped up. It only had eight episodes, with some being really interesting to some igniting frustration among viewers.

The premise was centered around twelve angels (each correlated with the zodiac animals) who were chosen long ago to be guardians of the world against evil spirits. Tae-san was the main character, the Tiger sign, who was filled with rich scars from the battles of the past and continues to be the leader.

The peace for which they fought didn't last long, as the dreadful spirit Ogwi returned. And upon the waking of this spirit, the angels were left to come together once again.

Overall, the drama was more than just one of great conflict or magical powers, but rather demonstrated the weight of sacrifice, friendship, and betrayal that shaped these characters. From week to week, the tension built, and by the final episode, fans were left questioning and feeling.

Let's unpack the ending of Twelve below!

Twelve ending explained: Samin's quest for power and Haetae's tragic fall

The main villain, Samin, is purely hungry for power and wishes to gather as many dark powers as possible, so that he can overrun humanity and destroy the balance of the world.

Currently in the timeline, Samin's experience of having absorbed Haetae's powers, and also taking away Mirr's soul, has become extremely powerful. Haetae's own story is tragic: Once a beloved and gifted young angel, he was corrupted under the influence of Samin and Ogwi.

This led him to murder the other angels, Han-u, Master R, Yang-mi, and Dal-gi. This sends Tae-san back to the point of killing Haetae himself and sealing the good and evil powers to prevent any more angels from being killed. Tae-san now has an even heavier dilemma in returning Samin, who is now stronger than ever.

Samin's defeat and Ogwi's uncertain fate in the Twelve finale episode

In the end, Samin's ambition results in Ogwi being thrown into hell. Despite having welcomed the dark side himself, Ogwi tried to save Mirr and Tae-san before he fell. But his actions and the decision to continue the dark path resulted in a tragic fate.

Devastated and angry, Taesan takes down Sa-min, ending his reign of terror, but the peace is fleeting. Mirr is sad as O-wi does not return to her, and their love story ends tragically.

All twelve angels are reunited after the four siblings who were presumed dead are back and out of Samin's dark control. They share a meal together with their close human friends and family.

During the closing scene, there is a lingering uncertainty: Ogwi's heart can be seen beating, suggesting he may not have really died. This disturbing cliffhanger contributes to the sense that evil may not have run its course.

These final moments hint at Twelve Season 2, in which the possibility of revenge and unfinished stories could arise. However, there has been no official confirmation of the K-drama returning.
