After a long wait of two years, Twisted Metal Season 2 is finally premiering on July 31, 2025. The premiere will drop three episodes simultaneously, and with an active Peacock subscription, viewers will be able to binge the first three episodes of Twisted Metal Season 2.

The official synopsis of the show, as per Rotten Tomatoes, mentions,

Twisted Metal, a half-hour live-action TV series based on the classic PlayStation game series, is a high-octane action comedy about a motor-mouthed outsider offered a chance at a better life, but only if he can successfully deliver a mysterious package across a post-apocalyptic wasteland.”

The synopsis further mentions,

“With the help of a badass axe-wielding car thief, he’ll face savage marauders driving vehicles of destruction and other dangers of the open road, including a deranged clown who drives an all too familiar ice cream truck.”

Besides the usual anticipation surrounding the release of the episodes, another notable thing about Twisted Metal Season 2 is that it has garnered a significantly higher Rotten Tomatoes score than its previous season. Season 1 had a critics’ score of 67% whereas season 2 is now standing with a solid 90%.

Twisted Metal Season 2 is receiving a great response from the critics

Given the higher Rotten Tomatoes score that Twisted Metal Season 2 has achieved, it is quite clear that critics are more approving of this season than the previous one.

The general opinion of the critics seems to agree on one point, which is that the second season embraces the show’s dark humor and chaotic side even more than the first one, resulting in an even better season.

For instance, Paste Magazine’s Trent Moore emphasized this aspect of the show, saying,

“The fact that Twisted Metal’s second round is just so damn fun is a delightfully pleasant surprise. There’s really no reason this should work as well as it does.”

While the strong critics’ rating sets high expectations for Season 2, it's worth noting that Twisted Metal Season 1 had already won over audiences in a big way—earning an impressive 93% audience score, which actually surpassed the critics’ rating at the time.

It’ll be interesting to see how audiences respond to Twisted Metal Season 2, especially since critics have already given it high praise. The 12-episode season will follow a weekly release schedule, with new episodes premiering every Thursday.

Additionally, fans will be glad to know that Twisted Metal Season 2 kicks off with the first three episodes at once. After that, two new episodes will be released every Thursday, leading up to the grand finale on August 28, 2025, when the final three episodes will drop together.

All episodes of Twisted Metal will be available to stream on Peacock.
