Unforgotten Season 6 Episode 2 recap: Juliet is suspected
As Jess and Sunny begin their investigation into Gerry’s murder in Episode 2 of Unforgotten Season 6, their first stop is Gerry’s widow, Juliet. She tells them that she was always sure Gerry did not commit suicide, as the police had first shared, since his car was found abandoned near one of their rental properties.
She tells the detectives that Gerry had suffered a lot during COVID, as his pub, which he loved to work in, was closed. Further, his tenants also stopped paying him, increasing the family’s financial problems. This resulted in Gerry taking money from moneylenders like Markaj.
Juliet also told the police about Gerry being attacked by the moneylenders in 2021, as he owed them around 17 thousand pounds. However, while she blames the moneylenders, Jess also becomes suspicious of her, as after Gerry’s death, she earned a life insurance of about 400 thousand pounds, with which she has begun living in a big house and also enrolled Taylor in a better school. But Juliet tells them that she was unaware of the life insurance.
Further, the investigators also built up a theory that the killer might have been disturbed while they were disposing of Gerry’s body in the Marsh, as only the leg was wrapped in plastic and not the torso. This development leads them to search for any CCTV cameras around the location to find any clues about the killer.
Unforgotten Season 6 Episode 2 recap: Jess and Sunny interview Markaj and Ram Sidhu
Due to Juliet’s information about the moneylenders threatening and attacking Gerry just before his death, the detectives had to interview them as well. In Episode 2 of Unforgotten Season 6, Jess meets Markaj, who lent Gerry 12 thousand pounds.
However, Markaj denied killing Gerry as he told Jess that the death of a debtor is a loss, as he won’t get his money back now. He also tells her that, unlike his other family members, he has been running a clean restaurant business.
Elsewhere, Sunny interviews Ram Sidhu, the one who investigated Gerry’s death before his remains were found and closed the case, thinking it was a suicide. He is now facing corruption charges against himself. Ram tells Sunny that he also suspected Juliet due to her telling them to investigate more about the moneylenders, as she suspected them.
By meeting Ram, Sunny also learns about a new suspect: an employee who worked in Gerry’s pub, who had threatened Gerry several times before his death.
Unforgotten Season 6 Episode 2 recap: Mel Ricci might be involved in the case
While the investigation is going on in Unforgotten Season 6, Episode 2 also shows how all the characters have been struggling in their personal lives. For instance, Jess is trying to rekindle her relationship with her sister while Sunny is dealing with his loneliness.
Further, Hassan, the Afghan immigrant, has begun working on a farm to pick strawberries, and from the get-go, he has been treated differently as his boss pays him less, saying he is slower than the others. Meanwhile, Marty, the autistic man, who has been brainwashed with the internet’s incel propaganda, is also struggling to take care of his mother.
The startling part of the episode was Mel Ricci’s link with Gerry. She looked terrified when her mother told her about Gerry’s remains being found and frantically called someone to threaten them and force them to keep quiet.
At the end, Juliet is also shown deleting a voice message, which might be connected to Gerry’s death.
