Born on June 18, 1982, to Brian Guimond and Lisa Cheney, Josua Guimond completed his schooling at Maple Lake High School. He was charming, athletic, and had a great sense of humor. Josh was a quite studious, intelligent, and goal-oriented young boy who had dreams of becoming a successful lawyer. He was a political science major at St. John's University, an all-boys Catholic institution, and he wanted to join a law school after college. However, all his dreams came crashing down when he went missing on Saturday, November 9, 2002.

Katie Benson, Joshua's high school sweetheart and ex-girlfriend, revealed in the episode of Unsolved Mysteries that Joshua was last seen on that fateful Saturday night of 2002 in a dorm at 75 Metten Court. Joshua arrived at the party at around 11:30 at night, and he was busy playing poker and partying with his friends. Just before midnight, his friends realized that Josh was missing. As per certain witnesses, he left the party around 11:45 pm to presumably walk back to St. Maur House dorm, which was just a five-minute walk away. But Josh never made it back. In the morning, when his flatmate and best friend Nick Hydukovich realized that Joshua was still missing, he checked his AOL Instant Messenger, and he found out that Joshua had been inactive for over 12 hours. He reached out to his friends Greg and Alex, whom Joshua had been with the previous night, but they had no idea. When Joshua failed to show up at the mock trial practice, his friends raised the alarm.

Joshua's mother was informed by the Dean of Students on Sunday night, November 10, 2002, to report about his missing son. Joshua's parents reported his disappearance, and that is when the investigators took over. His car was still parked on campus. His keys, wallet, contact lenses, and glasses were present in his apartment room, and his credit card and bank account were untouched. There was no sign of any criminal activity or mishap in his room.

Joshua Guimond's disappearance led to a large-scale search operation, with the FBI, National Guard, investigators, volunteers, and even divers getting involved. Unfortunately, he was never found.

Unsolved Mysteries: Joshua Guimond remains missing even after two decades

Since that night, Joshua Guimond's disappearance has spawned numerous theories — none of which have been definitively proven. One of the earliest and most widely discussed possibilities is that Joshua may have accidentally drowned in one of the lakes at St. John's campus. Search dogs initially led the investigators to Stumpf Lake, but divers found no evidence of a body. Additionally, two students saw someone wearing a hooded sweatshirt and a pair of blue jeans near the footbridge of Stumpf Lake around midnight on November 9, 2002. As per their description, it matched that of Joshua, as shown in Unsolved Mysteries.

Another theory points to the possibility of a cover-up. Some, including members of Joshua's family, believe that something might have gone wrong at the dorm party. While others thought that Joshua might have been an innocent victim of abduction, although there's no evidence to prove this theory. As per the Unsolved Mysteries episode, Joshua's disappearance case was even linked to missing cases of young students during that time. Months later, during a search operation, a bloodhound smelled Joshua's scent near the abbeys of the monastery of St.John's campus, which raised suspicion on whether he was a victim of the s**ual abuse by the monks. However, this theory was debunked as well.

There's also a speculation that Joshua might have arranged to meet someone he connected with online. When the investigators chose to search for clues from his computer, they saw somebody had used an Internet washer on Joshua's computer, days after his disappearance, as shown in Unsolved Mysteries.

However, evidence recovered from his computer suggested that he had been chatting with men on dating sites. Authorities explored whether he might have left the dorm to meet someone in secret, and the data erased from the computer added to this theory.

Twenty-three years later, Joshua Guimon's case remains open — and the search for answers continues.
