Shark Tank investor Kevin O'Leary appeared on the August 22, 2023, episode of Erika Kullberg's podcast. While on the podcast, Mr Wonderful mentioned various things as he recalled his past jobs and projects.
One of the segments in the podcast revealed Kevin O'Leary's habit of planning his day and three things that he always notes down the night before. While sharing his "three things" for that day, the Shark Tank investor recalled a few of his past jobs when he used to work as a cameraman and editor.
"I used to be an editor way back. Way back, I used to be a cameraman with 16 millimeter film and an eight plate Steam Deck editor. So when I see work and today, I still cut with Premiere Pro as an editor, just get my chops."
He added:
"If I see a jump frame or if I see something in that commercial I don't like, I wanna get it fixed because I... to me, it has to be just perfect, and that's what I've been working on."
Shark Tank mentor Kevin O'Leary shares his "three things" and how he plans his day
After learning about the Shark Tank investor's habit of planning his day, the podcast host asked him:
"Just so we can get a sense of what your day looks like today, what are the three things that you wrote down?"
Kevin O'Leary responded to the host, saying he had known about this "today" since last night. He discussed filming a television commercial from a week before, which used "very advanced technology."
"We're using some very advanced technology for customer acquisition, including QR codes and pixel recognition and all kinds of things. And, you you know, when you do something like that, it's half art, half science. And you wanna communicate the right message in a 15, a 30, and a 60 second commercial," he shared.
Talking about filming and commercials, the Shark Tank mentor recalled when he used to work as an Editor. Before that, he used to work as a cameraman.
Further in the podcast, Kevin O'Leary opened up about his routine, which the host had asked earlier. He starts his day at 5 am. The first thing he does is to get on the bike "as soon as the sun breaks the horizon." After riding the bike for nine miles, he attends the gym for about 40 minutes.
Podcast host Erika Kullberg then asked about balancing the timings and, since he was a "perfectionist", how he manages if he feels he had not done "enough" for the day.
Shark Tank's mentor revealed that involvement in "financial services" doesn't leave any "grey zone." There are only two options: make money or lose it. He also stated that sometimes 80% is not "good enough." Later in the segment, he talked about risk mitigation and more.
