Landman reimagines the old phrase of "How the West Was Won" by making not cattle or land but oil a frontier. It shows how success comes with risky deals, brutal competition and environmental stakes. The West is still being “won,” just in a modern, industrial, cutthroat way.

Season 2 is set to return on November 16, 2025, and will introduce bigger scandals and more ruthless business tactics. The show's star, Billy Bob Thornton, shared his thoughts on the Western drama’s success while speaking with Forbes Magazine. He said:

“Well, it does - it does feel special. It feels special to us and evidently to the audience because it’s become a huge international hit. We didn’t really expect that, at first, but it strikes a chord with people. I think it’s because the characters are well-drawn. Taylor writes wonderful stories and dialogue, and he knows how to cast the right people. We’ve got a bunch of crazy individuals in this thing, and I think people like to watch characters who are full of themselves."

He also added how authentic and truthful the show is when it comes to its portrayal of the world, the emotion and the danger within the business.

"It’s a very honest show. It’s honest in its humour, its drama, its emotion, its danger and its absurdity. Whatever you are into, it goes full tilt, and I think people respond to that.”

Actors like Billy Bob Thornton, Demi Moore, Sam Elliott, and Ali Larter make up a vibrant cast. Their performance is what makes it resonate with such a large audience and has resulted in international fame.
