Pluribus Season 2 was greenlit a while back, and the fans are looking even more forward to it since Season 1 came to an end with its ninth and final episode, La Chica o El Mundo. The episode revealed very few interesting things and ended the season on a chilling cliffhanger. In the finale, Carol initially did not want to help Manousos in destroying the Others if the joining cannot be reversed, but by the end of the episode, we see that she's willing to help him. Moreover, we see that Carol asked the Others for an atom bomb and got it.

An atomic bomb is not just a regular weapon and raises questions like whether Carol has a proper plan going ahead, and if she's going to intentionally commit mass murder. Fans are thus, understandably, eager to watch the next season. Vince Gilligan, in an interview, has given a production update regarding Pluribus Season 2.

Pluribus Season 2 has already been greenlit, and given the way Season 1 ended, fans would love it if the next season were released as soon as possible. The finale not only revealed that Carol now has an atom bomb but also that the Others are trying to make a custom virus for Carol to make her join the hive mind, despite her not giving them consent for it. Zosia confesses to Carol in the finale that the Others are going to do so by extracting Carol's stem cells from the eggs she had frozen years before the joining.

Thus, Carol has to find a way to stop the Others, and she has very limited time to do so. Since the demand for Pluribus Season 2 to be released soon is now higher than ever, Vince Gilligan did give a production update in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. He said,

"Yeah, it’s going to frustrate some folks, just to be honest. We work at the speed we work at, much like glaciers melt at the speed that they melt at. For my own sake, as much as anybody, selfishly, I wish we could get this job done quicker because I don’t know how many years I’ve got left. I still want to do more things, but I go slower than I used to. So it’s going to be a while between seasons; it just is. Unless we invent a time machine or figure out how to stop time, it’s just the nature of the beast."

Gilligan has given an honest but smart update regarding the production of Pluribus Season 2. As he clearly stated, he would love to speed things up, but making a show like this takes time, and that's the reality. The update was a smart one because he said he works more slowly than he used to, and that is perhaps one of the things that allowed him to make such a successful show. Thus, even if Pluribus Season 2 takes time, fans are assured that it is in the works, and proper time and effort are put in to make it as good as, or better than, Season 1.

Pluribus Season 1 is streaming on Apple TV.
