Walking on Thin Ice ending explained: Eun-soo's final struggle and Kyung's heartbreaking realization

Crime, betrayal, struggles, and everything intense become the heart of the storyline in the Walking on Thin Ice ending. From the beginning of the series, the aspect of intense difficulties that Kang Eun-soo goes through because of her circumstances leads her to make a decision that ultimately transforms her life.

Eun-soo's final struggle and Kyung's heartbreaking realization in Walking on Thin Ice ending

At the end of Walking on Thin Ice, Eun-soo is jailed for partaking in illegal tasks. Kyung also has to face the consequences of his actions. Though Kyung tries to take most of the blame on himself to protect Eun-soo. The things do not turn out the way he wanted. They serve time in prison. After coming out, Eun-soo tries to get closer to her daughter. However, her daughter does not want to get involved with her.

This causes Eun-soo to completely lose all hope. At the beginning of the final episode of this series, Eun-soo lost her husband. Tae-gu arrived at their house and shot him to get his revenge. He even tried to shoot Eun-soo. The gun he was carrying did not have any more bullets.

Eun-soo and her daughter try to save him. The bullet wound was too deep to save Eun-soo's husband. He ends up dying before the help could arrive. This incident became the root of the distance between Eun-soo and her daughter.

Kyung is able to expose the truth about Hwi-rim; however, things do not turn out well for him in the end. After the truth about Hwi-rim’s actions comes out to the world, he is imprisoned. At the very end of the episode, Kyung finds the truth about his father. He finds that his father made an agreement with TwoN. He confronts his father about the agreement.

He tells his father that if he truly were the real murderer, the company would not offer an agreement. The truth is clear that Kyung’s father knew about Kyung’s innocence yet kept quiet because of the agreement. Seeing his son finding the truth about the agreement, his father begins to tell him that he had no choice, as his company was about to collapse.

He did it because he did not want to let his whole family die because of Kyung. Kyung is completely shattered to hear the truth about his father’s betrayal, which completely ruined his life before. Instead of accepting his fault, Kyung’s father begins to blame Kyung for all of it.

Walking on Thin Ice concludes with Eun-soo writing a letter to her daughter. In the letter, Eun-soo explains everything. She wants her daughter to understand the whole truth. She writes about all the things she did up until the very end. Kyung, on the other hand, struggles to handle the truth.

He is seen standing on top of a building. There is no clear answer about his next step. Being betrayed by his own father definitely was not something he expected. The ending of Walking on Thin Ice perfectly captures the struggles of the characters. The ending resonates with a distinct layer of realism. It truly leaves a deep impact.
