Cierra Ortega is currently facing a backlash from Love Island USA viewers for a racist comment that she made, not once, but twice. Some of her old posts have resurfaced, where she can be seen using a racial slur against Asians, which did not fit well with the fans.
The first time it was in a story where she revealed getting Botox done. She also revealed getting work done on her eyelids because they close when she smiles.
However, she used an Asian slur to describe how her eyes close up, which is offensive to the community. This caused a backlash and fans started digging up he old posts.
This was when they found out she had used the slur before as well in one of her posts. Calling for her immediate removal from the Love Island USA villa, the viewers were adamant that they did not want to see her on their screens.
This has happened before on the show with Yulissa, who had left the villa after just two episodes. This was when her old videos from a podcast resurfaced, where she can be seen using the n-word. This led to her removal, and fans felt that a racial slur towards Asians should not be tolerated as well.
Previously, Love Island USA executives had a meeting to discuss what should be done with the entire Cierra situation, as she had been in the villa for more than three weeks and was in a closed-off relationship with Nic.
But in the most recent episode, it was announced that Cierra Ortega has been removed. Iain Stirling, the narrator, explained,
"Cierra has left the villa due to a personal situation."
However, it was obvious to viewers what the "personal situation" was. They understood how the backlash was affecting the experience of the viewers and was a necessary step to ensure that the Love Island USA villa remains a safe space for people of all ethnicities and cultures.

"As Cierra's parents, this has been one of the most painful weeks of our lives. We've seen the posts, the headlines, the hurt, and the hate... We understand why people are upset, and we know accountability matters."
They added,
"But what's happening online right now has gone far beyond that. The threats. The cruel messages. The attacks on her family, her friends, even her supporters, it's heartbreaking. It's uncalled for. And no one deserves that kind of hate, no matter what mistake they've made."
