Stranger Things Season 5 has barely had any time to settle, and Reddit is already on fire with one big question. Did that intense final battle pull visual and sentimental cues from Attack on Titan?

Fans are not quiet about dissecting the finale, and they are laying out comparisons scene by scene. Well, to put it simply, there are Redditors who think the similarities are hard to ignore. And well, it is less about copying and more about shared storytelling language.

And once you see it, you really cannot unsee it.

Why Reddit can't stop comparing Stranger Things Season 5 to Attack on Titan

The whole conversation kicked off when a Reddit user (@Wooden-Tear-4938) asked:

"Anyone who has seen Attack on Titan, did you notice these parallels to ST finale?"

That question opened the floodgates to what was to come after. Fans who know both the shows inside out immediately jumped in, pointing out how the final Stranger Things Season 5 battle feels sentimental and visually familiar to AOT.

Another user (@avatar_emrys) wrote:

"Shortly after ending Stranger Things I was reminded of Attack On Titan, and I think I am now understanding why, there are definitely parallels!"

Others went deeper, not just into visuals but into how the two stories come to a close. A Redditor(@Bredmen44) replied directly to the original post, saying:

"Definitely some parallels. Not sure which ending I like more, but overall Attack on Titan is the better story. It's clear that Isayama had his story all written out from the beginning where the Duffers were writing as they went."

That comment set the tone. This was not about dragging one show or hyping the other. It was about structure, planning, and payoff. Fans also latched onto the emotional fallout. A user (@Wooden-Tear-4938) later added:

"Yup even the epilogue was very similar. Like everyone else still had happyish ending but Mike/Mikasa were too broken to get over it. Now, I see it even Mike/Mikasa and Eleven/Eren, their names are also kinda similar."

For Reddit, this was not a stretch. It felt like dots naturally connecting.

The Eleven and Mikasa moment fans keep replaying

What really sealed the comparison for many fans was the battle choreography itself. In Stranger Things Season 5, Eleven tears into the Mind Flayer's body to reach Vecna hiding inside. Fans immediately thought of Attack on Titan, where Mikasa enters Eren's Founding Titan to end everything from the inside.

A user (@GosuLTD) laid it out clearly, replying:

"YES! I see so some parallels between Vecna and Eren, especially the fact that they both were given a shot at redemption but both chose to double down and proceed with their plans of ending the world. Eren though is definitely more of an anti-villain though because his plan was to sacrifice himself during the Rumbling...Vecna wanted to serve the mind flayer and even though he was given a chance to switch sides, he was just too far gone."

This is where the discussion shifted from visuals to meaning. Fans were not just saying the scenes looked alike. They were talking about choices, sacrifice, and how both stories trap their heroes and villains in no-win situations.

The Duffer brothers have never confirmed a direct link between the two shows, but Redditors are not claiming plagiarism either. They see it as shared DNA. Big emotions. Big bodies. A final strike that has to come from within.

So, was Stranger Things Season 5 inspired by Attack on Titan? Reddit does not claim it as fact, but the parallels feel too clean to be random. From the inside-the-monster battle to the broken hearts left behind, fans see echoes everywhere.

Whether intentional or not, the comparison has added another layer to how people read that finale. And honestly, that just makes the ending hit even harder.
