Calling all Harry Potter fans! The much-anticipated HBO TV adaptation of Harry Potter has officially announced the young actors who will portray the story’s central trio– Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, and Ron Weasley.

The casting follows a large-scale, open audition process that drew in over 30,000 children, eventually narrowing down to three fresh faces: Dominic McLaughlin as Harry, Arabella Stanton as Hermione, and Alastair Stout as Ron.

Following this big news, Potterheads couldn't stop themselves from sharing their honest reactions on social media platforms. A user named @WitchyWhittaker shared on X (earlier Twitter):

"We actually have a buck tooth Hermione this time. Also, she looks a bit like Jenna Ortega imo."

Interestingly, Hermione is described as having large front teeth in childhood, and Arabella Stanton's casting ensures the characters align with J.K. Rowling's acclaimed novels. Another user @Casualnaming wrote:

The news was confirmed by Francesca Gardiner, the series’ showrunner and writer, along with Mark Mylod, who will both direct and serve as executive producer. They described the selection process as nothing short of "extraordinary."

Another fan @Shane00, praised the casting of the main characters but also mentioned the casting of Paapa Essiedu as Snape, which brought a lot of mixed reactions earlier. The user wrote:

HBO has finalized the iconic trio for the Harry Potter TV series

Since HBO revealed that they're coming up with a faithful adaptation of J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter as a TV series, fans have been curious about the actors who will play their favorite roles. As mentioned above, the makers have confirmed the child actors have been finalized to play Harry and his two lifelong friends.

The showrunner also stated:

"After an extraordinary search led by casting directors Lucy Bevan and Emily Brockmann, we are delighted to announce we have found our Harry, Hermione and Ron."

Gardiner continued:

"The talent of these three unique actors is wonderful to behold, and we cannot wait for the world to witness their magic together onscreen."

The showrunner also thanked all child actors who showed up for the auditions. While Dominic McLaughlin has secured a lead role for the first time, fans have seen Arabella Stanton in Matilda: The Musical on London’s West End.

As for Alastair Stout, the child actor, he currently doesn't seem to have portrayed a major role, but considering his resemblance to Ron, Stout is expected to give an impressive performance in HBO's Harry Potter TV series.
