Shark Tank Season 17: Lindley and Andres pitch their uniquely designed shoes, Z-Coil Footwear
Lindley and Andres from Albuquerque, New Mexico, arrived on Shark Tank Season 17. The duo's original ask was $250,000 for 10% of their company. While pitching their product, Lindley noted that the pain from working throughout the day runs up the knees to the backs.
Father-daughter duo's pitch to the Sharks started with:
"For years, companies and doctors have been trying to solve this problem in vain, mainly turning to things like very expensive custom orthotics. Hooking people on pills. And even surgery. We've solved the problem at the foundation, and that's the reason we created an entirely new innovative shoe company called Z-Coil Footwear."
They revealed that with Z-Coil Footwear, they intended to cut the imact on bones by 50%. Daily lives of various people such as servers, nurses, and construction workers would be quite relieved. They would be able to walk more, stand longer, and have considerable less leg, foot, and back pain.
Lindley and Andres gave each of the Sharks a pair of their Z-Coil Footwear to try on. She told them to take "really big strides" while walking. Fellow Sharks Rashaun Williams and Kevin O'Leary also tried the shoes. Shark Tank's Lori Greiner felt that the shoes felt cool while walking.
Andres noted that 24% of Americans have foot pain on a regular basis. Hence, with that in mind, Z-Coil Footwear was engineered specifically for people who suffer from feet, leg, and back pain.
Sharing more about how their business started, Andres revealed that it was his father who started the shoes business in 1995.
At the time, he was in college.
"Five years, no salary, $140,000 in credit card debt. That stress brought in an idea. So we give shareholders $1,000 in retail value if they invested $1,000 in Z-Coil Footwear. In 12 months, we raised $5 million. We gave away $1.8 million in product. We seeded product all over the nation. We netted $3.2 million," added Andres.
Four years later, they grew their company to $11.8 million in sales. Listening to that, the Sharks asked about their current sales. For that, Andres revealed that for this year, their sales went up to $1.6 million.
Robert Herjavec asked about the sales and what happened over the course of 30 years since their company started.
