Love Island USA Season 7 has already delivered plenty of surprises, dramatic recouplings, and emotional exits just two weeks into its run. Among the most talked about developments was the elimination of bombshell Charlie Georgiou in Episode 12, just as his budding romance with Hannah Fields seemed to be taking shape.

Viewers had watched the UK native connect with Hannah over lighthearted moments and deep conversations, only for America to pair her with newcomer Pepe Garcia instead. Charlie, now watching the show from home, has opened up about his abrupt exit and the feelings he still has for Hannah.

“We really connected. It was beautiful. We spoke. We found out more things about each other on a deeper level,” he told Decider on June 20 in a post-elimination interview.

Charlie described the recoupling twist that ended his time in the villa as “brutal” and said he felt “robbed” of the full Love Island USA experience.

Love Island USA: Charlie opens up about his connection with Hannah

Charlie’s time on Love Island USA began with a whirlwind attraction to Hannah Fields, whom he described as “high-energy,” “funny,” and possessing an “all-American vibe.” Speaking to Decider on June 20, Charlie recalled that their connection went beyond appearances.

“We’d harmonize together and sing little bits – the bits you don’t see [on the show] and those little things that make it fun,” he explained. “I think that’s what it was – attraction and energy.”

The night before he was eliminated, Charlie described his conversation with Hannah as meaningful and emotional. He said it felt deeper than a regular chat, more like the kind of connection people associate with a true Love Island experience. He added,

“I was like, ‘Wow, this is it. I’m gonna get to experience this real Love Island journey now. We’re gonna do this together. Whatever comes at us, okay. If we mess up along the way, it’s all part of the journey.’”

However, just as Charlie began to feel that things were solidifying with Hannah, a vote from America matched her with a new bombshell, Pepe Garcia, a former professional basketball player introduced in episode 9. The twist left Charlie single and vulnerable, and the Islanders ultimately voted him out.

Charlie reflects on his Love Island USA journey

Charlie’s decision to audition for Love Island USA was rooted in heartbreak. He told Decider that a failed relationship with a girl from Los Angeles inspired him to apply.

“I was hurt about it. She went back to America. I couldn’t progress,” he explained. “While I was getting over that, I thought, ‘Why not just apply for Love Island Season 7?’”

Charlie revealed that he got on the show after messaging a casting agent on Instagram and was later flown to Fiji as one of the early bombshells. Reflecting on his elimination, he admitted it was difficult to watch the show afterwards.

He said he only saw a small part of Hannah and Pepe’s date before turning it off, adding that a part of him felt like he should have been the one on that date. He also voiced frustration with how the Islanders voted. “I think I was just the easy vote for them,” he said, naming Cierra Ortega and Amaya Espinal in particular.

“They didn’t vote for the guy that had the weakest connection. I think they just voted for the guy they thought would be the easiest to get rid of.”

Charlie stood by his belief that his elimination was unfair. He explained that it didn’t feel like a typical exit where someone is simply not chosen—instead, he said the opportunity was taken from him, describing the outcome as feeling like he was "robbed."
