A shocking medical emergency disrupted the search for love on 90 Day: Hunt for Love, a popular spinoff of the long-running 90 Day Fiancé franchise. The show features returning cast members from 90 Day Fiancé, including Colt Johnson and Cortney Reardanz, as they pursue new romantic connections in a tropical setting.

In Episode 8, a frightening incident occurred when Colt was rushed to the hospital after slipping on a wet ramp. The moment was particularly difficult for Cortney, who had been growing close to him. Reflecting on the ordeal in Episode 9, she revealed,

“We’ve been telling the hospital I’m his wife so I could go in the rooms with him,”

emphasizing how serious the situation became as Colt faced a complex leg injury that required a transfer to a larger hospital.

90 Day Fiancé's Colt’s fall halts filming and sends shockwaves through the cast

Colt Johnson, known from 90 Day Fiancé Season 6, suffered a major setback in Episode 8 of 90 Day: Hunt for Love when he fell and reinjured a previously broken leg. He had been with Cortney Reardanz earlier that morning, “having breakfast and chatting and stuff,” as she described during the episode. Moments later, she saw him lying outside her door.

“I looked out my door, and he’s lying on the ramp outside of my door,” she said.

Noting it was raining and initially assuming he was joking. It soon became clear, however, that the fall was serious. Colt was taken away by ambulance, telling cast members the injury was to the same leg he had broken in December 2022 while filming on a trampoline for 90 Day Fiancé.

At that time, according to his former fiancée Vanessa, the injury required five surgeries. The pair had been slated to appear on 90 Day: The Last Resort but were replaced by Molly Hopkins and Kelly Brown due to Colt's recovery needs. Back at the hotel in Episode 9, Cortney explained how overwhelming it had been to see him hurt.

“The past 24 hours have just been exhausting, emotionally I feel like, I've just been hit by a semi,” she said.

Seeking a moment of peace, she visited a cenote to reflect. She also told the group that Colt had to be transferred to a larger hospital in Playa del Carmen due to the complexity of his injury.

The doctors reportedly needed a specialist to handle his condition. As she updated others about Colt’s status, Cortney admitted to being unsure about whether he would return.

“Everything just seems too insignificant right now. How can I have fun when one of my closest friends here is in a hospital bed,”

She said, emphasizing her emotional investment in Colt’s well-being. She also revealed that Colt asked her to contact his mother, Debbie, in the event something went wrong during surgery, saying he feared he might "die under anesthesia.”

In July, 90 Day Fiancé's Colt posted X-ray images on Instagram showing the extent of the damage, with visible surgical hardware inserted into his leg. In his caption, he discussed being moved from a hospital in Tulum to one in Playa del Carmen due to the severity of the injury.

“The first hospital they took me, in Tulum, could not handle my injury so they moved me to Playa Del Carmen, an hour away. It was very dangerous because my fractures could have caused internal bleeding if moved too much,” he wrote.

Colt expressed appreciation for the care he received during his recovery, saying the hospital staff were professional, kind, and attentive to his needs. He mentioned being treated with "the utmost care" and highlighted the effectiveness of his pain management, including a fentanyl patch and support from what he called the “MoPo,” likely referring to medical personnel.

90 Day Fiancé's Cortney stays by Colt’s side amid the medical emergency and emotional turmoil

While dealing with his injury, Colt grew closer to Cortney, who remained by his side during the ordeal. On 90 Day: Hunt for Love, Cortney had been navigating a potential triangle between Colt and fellow 90 Day Fiancé cast member Usman 'Soja Boy' Umar. However, her decision to stay with Colt during his hospitalization signaled a deepening connection.

In a later scene, Cortney and Colt were seen sharing a kiss, though it was not confirmed whether the moment took place in Mexico or after the show wrapped. In an interview posted to YouTube with Melicia Shae, Cortney reflected on how unexpected the bond with Colt was.

“What do women see in him? I didn't get it. I don't know, it's like an emotional connection. I think we have a deep, emotional connection,” she told the host.
