When Wednesday Season 2 Part 2 premiered on September 3, 2025, one scene hit like deja vu. It pulled the viewers back to a sequence from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2.
Wednesday Season 2 Part 1 ended on a cliffhanger with Tyler Gaplin, or Hyde, escaping, and Wednesday plummeting from Willow Hill psychiatric hospital. Part 2 opened with Wednesday lying in a hospital bed. Her parents are clearly distressed as her mother reads her dark verses from Macbeth to rouse her daughter back to life.
What happens next is quite dramatic. Wednesday, still in coma dreams about the deceased Principal Weems of the Nevermore Academy. This scene takes us back to a chilling sequence from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2, when Harry was struck by a killing curse (Avada Kedavra) by Voldemort. He doesn't die. Instead, he gets a dream-like vision of his deceased headmaster, Albus Dumbledore, in what looks like a heavenly version of King's Cross Station.
Interestingly, even though the concept looks similar in Wednesday Season 2 and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2, the conversation in each case is different.

Wednesday Season 2: Wednesday's vision of Principal Weems mirrors Harry Potter's Dumbledore vision
Many would find a striking similarity between Wednesday's vision of Principal Weems and Harry Potter's vision of Dumbledore. Both moments balance loss, hope, and the will to fight on. The moment showcases how the former mentor/guide figures in their lives push them back towards survival in these life-or-death situations.
However, if we analyze carefully, even though the concept looks the same, the conversation is different. In Harry Potter and Deathly Hallows Part 2, Harry wakes up in a heavenly-like setting of King's Cross station and meets his deceased headmaster, Dumbledore motivates him and informs him that a part of Voldemort that lived within Harry died due to the killing curse. They sit down on a bench, and Dumbledore asks him to choose between boarding a train and moving on to the afterlife or continuing his fight against Voldemort. Before leaving, Dumbledore tells Harry that it is happening inside his head, stressing on the fact that the conversation is still significant.
While Harry is given an option to choose, Wednesday isn't. Principal Weems, the new spirit guide, snaps her out of the coma. Dumbledore's wisdom feels philosophical, touching on destiny and choice, whereas Weems is sharper, grounding Wednesday in her grit and resilience.
Wednesday Season 2: Wednesday meets Principal Weems in a dream-like sequence
In reality, still in a coma, Wednesday Addams dreams about Principal Weems, dressed as a nurse who greets her and guides her to the forest area. Principal Weems welcomes her and assures her it isn't hell. She proceeds to tell her that she is her new spirit guide.
Even though Wednesday is not elated about what happened, she eventually comes to terms with it. Principal Weems gives a quick recap: Wednesday losing her psychic abilities, lying to her bestie Enid, and freeing Tyler Gaplin from the institution. Wednesday asks Weems to restore her abilities, but Weems declines. When Wednesday finally gets bored of Weems lecturing her and turns her back to leave, Weems snaps her fingers and instructs her to wake up. That's how Wednesday snaps out of her coma.
