Wednesday Season 2 pulled off a surprise that no one had on their bingo card and i.e., a full-blown body swap between Wednesday and Enid.

Watching Jenna Ortega light up the screen with Enid's sunshine energy and Emma Myers channel Wednesday's stone-cold stare was the kind of twist that makes you pause Netflix and shout, "Wait, did that really just happen?"

So, how did they get it right? According to Myers, it came down to honesty, nerves, and a lot of physical detail.

The chaos and fun of Enid turning into Wednesday

Emma Myers has always been the bright spark of Wednesday, but Season 2 flipped her entire routine upside down. Suddenly, she had to walk, blink (or rather, not blink), and move exactly like Jenna Ortega's Wednesday.

Myers explained to CinemaBlend that the whole process was both funny and stressful.

"It's really comical, but honestly, we were both miserable and nervous because we wanted to get it right..."

The pressure wasn't just about nailing mannerisms; it was about respecting each other's characters without slipping into caricature.

Enid and Wednesday are polar opposites, which made the challenge even trickier. Myers had to suppress every ounce of bubbly energy to stay completely still, while Ortega had to dial up an enthusiasm that felt unnatural for her famously stoic character. As Myers put it,

"She has a very specific way of moving. So just making sure that I had every move like choreographed in my head, the way she walks, the way she looks at something, was just key."

To make matters more complicated, the body swap twist wasn't part of some long-prepped storyline. Myers told The Hollywood Reporter that they had almost no rehearsal time. Instead, the two actresses sat down and made a pact to be brutally honest.

"If we saw each other doing something that wasn't right, we would say it. We just wanted to make sure it wasn't a cheap imitation..."

With that trust, both Ortega and Myers leaned into the challenge, turning it into one of the most memorable arcs of the season.

Building a believable “Freaky Friday” moment

The episode "Woe Thyself" in Wednesday Season 2 highlighted the body swap in all its absurd glory. Fans got to see Wednesday forced into Enid's shoes literally and figuratively and Enid stuck inside Wednesday's stone-faced body.

Myers admitted to Parade that she couldn't inject her own quirks into the role because her "Wednesday-ness" had to be directly rooted in Ortega's take.

"It was not based on Jenna's portrayal. Because I am Jenna's Wednesday..."

Her performance was a mirror image, with not a single unnecessary gesture.

On the flip side, Ortega had to embody Enid's high-energy personality.

Watching Ortega in Wednesday Season 2 suddenly smile, dance, and talk a mile a minute was both hilarious and strange. Myers even joked about how Ortega had "never had that much energy in her entire life." The result was a surreal but perfectly executed exchange that highlighted just how well the actresses understood one another.

But it wasn't all laughs. Myers admitted the process was weirdly vulnerable. Playing each other in front of one another came with pressure.

"It was sort of weird when you have to imitate each other and do it in front of one another..."

To get through it, the two agreed that there would be no sugarcoating and that is what paid off because instead of looking forced, the episode landed as one of Wednesday Season 2's strongest and most fan-loved episodes.

What could have easily turned into a cheesy gimmick became one of the standout moments of Wednesday Season 2. Thanks to Emma Myers and Jenna Ortega's willingness to throw themselves into the swap - nerves, honesty, and all fans got a clever, heartfelt twist that deepened both characters.

The body swap wasn't just a fun detour; it was proof of how much trust and craft goes into making Wednesday as unforgettable as it is.
