The highly anticipated Netflix supernatural mystery series, Wednesday Season 2 Part 1, starring Jenna Ortega, dropped on August 6, 2025. Just four episodes in, and it's looking like Wednesday Addams has already made enemies and stalkers in and around Nevermore Academy.
After brutally killing a serial killer during the summer break, we see Wednesday returning to the academy, and this time with her brother, Pugsley. Elsewhere in the forests, we see a private investigator being attacked and killed by a group of crows/ravens. Their next victim? Donovan Galpin, killed in his home in the same manner as his private investigator friend. The birds plucked out their eyeballs, and after the murder, a few birds died as well. What's even more interesting is that we see Wednesday being drawn to the location of crime and locate a huge crow with one side denuded. Xavier's who is now in some fancy academy in Switzerland, sends her a painting, which has the same bird drawn. Quite creepy...isn't it?
Soon, Wednesday discovers that the mystery killer murdering people using crows (and even threatening to murder her roommate, Enid Sinclair!) might be operating from the Willow Hill Facility. Turns out, her guess is right, the avian villain in Wednesday Season 2 is Judi Spannegel, the daughter of Nevermore's ex science teacher and Willow Hill's psychiatrist, Augustus Stonehurst.
Who is Judi Spannegel in Wednesday Season 2?
The true villain behind the winged attack in Season 2 is Judi Spannegel, portrayed by Heather Matarazzo. She starts as nothing more than Willow Hill Psychiatric Facility's executive assistant. With loud sweaters and an even louder demeanor, she manages to slip under the radar. But as the narrative progresses, it turns out that Judi's twisted stories make her one of the darkest enemies that Wednesday has ever faced.
Judi is the daughter of Augustus Stonehurst, the disgraced Nevermore science teacher who secretly experimented on the Outcasts in an attempt to harvest their powers, snatch them, and sell them to the normies. The experiment was referred to as the Long-term Outcast Integration Study. When he failed, Judi took over. She inherited his obsession and kept the legacy alive in a secret lab beneath Willow Hill, locking away Outcasts like lab rats.
Wednesday, along with her Uncle Fester, uncovers the lab and sets the tortured captives free, triggering chaos within the facility. Judi, who believed herself to be untouchable, is locked in the same facility and chased by the zombies and the inmates.
With Judi Spannegel's true revelation in Wednesday Season 2 Episode 4, it's clear that the writers have more shocks in store for the fans. With Tyler Gaplin set free and Wednesday's fate hanging by a thread after the brutal fall, it looks like there's more to the mystery that needs to be unraveled.
Wednesday has once again proved that the real horror isn't just the supernatural-it's also the smiling face hiding behind the desk.
Wednesday Season 2 Part 2 will release on September 3, 2025.
