Wednesday Season 2, part 1, is all set for its August 6 release, with the second part debuting September 3. Taking into account the unprecedented success of the first season, the show has a lot riding on its capability to bypass the sophomore slump. However, the fact that it has already been renewed for Season 3, ahead of the second season's release, is a great sign.

In a recent conversation with The Hollywood Reporter, co-showrunner Miles Millar revealed their future plans regarding the Netflix show. Wednesday Season 1 remains the most-watched Netflix show to date, and the creatives for the show are prepared to deliver the best they can with every new season that the show is renewed.

Wednesday Season 2 has high expectations to stand up to after the unprecedented success of Season 1. Ahead of the second season's release, now that the show has been renewed for a third season, the future of the show comes into question.

Showrunners Miles Millar and Alfred Gough, in a recent conversation with The Hollywood Reporter, talked about their plans for the show, and how they would approach the show and the third season for which it has been renewed.

When asked how many seasons the show would ideally have, the writers were quick to establish that they would take as many seasons as Netflix would give them. Millar went on to draw from his experience with Smallville, revealing that they had made a five-year plan for the show when it first rose to popularity, something that went on to trouble them when the show went on for ten years:

"We’ll take as many seasons as Netflix wants to give us because we made a mistake with Smallville at one point. We had a five-year plan, and then the show went on for 10 years. So we’re not going to get out in front of that."

Millar explained that with Wednesday and Netflix, they're not preparing themselves for a limited number of seasons, but rather creating each story in a way that was true to the Addams teenagers' character in every way. He also revealed that while they already had plans for a third season, and how they wanted to approach it, their only ideal plan was to stay true to Addams' character and her character arc:

"But we certainly have a plan for season three and beyond, ways to keep evolving the character and follow her journey into adulthood. The great thing about Wednesday is she’s got the bandwidth of an AM radio — in season one, just a hug could be emotional. She’s unapologetically analog, and she’ll go into situations that she hasn’t thought it all the way through. For someone who’s so smart, she also makes a lot of mistakes — which is fun. It makes her human and not feel like a superhero."

They also revealed that they wanted to expand the Addams family and the Nevermore world with a possible spin-off, but at the moment, all of their energy is going into Wednesday and ensuring that every single episode "sings" and is as good as it can be.

"There are a lot of other stories we can tell in this world and other characters we can look at. So it’s something we’re definitely noodling. We’re all Wednesday, all the time at the moment. This sometimes feels like making eight movies, so that’s our focus. But we definitely want to expand this world."

Wednesday has experienced unprecedented success for Netflix, and if the next two seasons continue to hold on to everything that made the show blow up in the first season, while ensuring that it does not become monotonous, the show could go on to become something even become one of the most memorable ones in recent television and pop culture history.
