It has been several weeks since the release of The White Lotus Season 3, and fans have responded very positively to the show so far. The show featured many eclectic and interesting characters this season as well, but one of the most interesting characters was Victoria Ratliff, played by Parker Posey.

Ratliff was one of the guests at The White Lotus this season, who was staying at the resort with her family. However, she grabbed the audience's attention right from the get-go, with a special highlight on an interaction she shared with Leslie Bibb's Kate right at the onset of the season, in episode 2 itself. She is seen behaving extremely curtly with the character, which makes the audience think they share some history.

Naturally, this question has puzzled fans for weeks now - why was Victoria Ratliff so cold and curt with Kate in The White Lotus Season 3?

Mike White reveals why Victoria Ratliff was so cold with Kate in The White Lotus Season 3, and the reason is quite simple

In an interview after the release of The White Lotus Season 3, Sarah Silverman revealed that she, too, was confused as to why Ratliff shared such a rocky relationship with Kate in the show. Silverman explained that she emailed Mike White about it, and his answer was quite simple.

"I emailed him and I said, ‘What’s up with Leslie Bibb — how come we didn’t find out why Parker Posey iced Leslie Bibb? ‘Why did she pretend not to know her? Is it something you didn’t get to that got cut out, or like, what’s the answer?’ And he goes, ‘No, I was just showing that she’s a b*tch.'"

According to Silverman, White simply stated that the interaction did not allude to any previous feud between the two characters - it was placed simply to show that Victoria Ratliff was capable of misbehaving with anybody, regardless of whether she had any history with them. This subtly hints at the fact that if she can behave this way with people in her social class, she is completely capable of misbehaving further with people who belong to lower social classes.

"If Victoria was willing to be rude to Kate seemingly for no reason at all, it truly hits home that she is maybe not a great person to anyone she deems beneath her."

While The White Lotus fans may have hoped for a more mysterious underlying story behind this interaction, White's candid response makes it clear that the interaction very craftily cemented a very prominent aspect of Ratliff's character.
