24 in 24: Last Chef Standing Season 2's latest episodes 6 and 7 featured various challenges during the shifts. The sixth episode, Teamwork, and the seventh episode, Risk Taking, saw drama-filled challenges.
Viewers often look forward to witnessing high-stakes cooking challenges between the chefs. While Food Network's 24 in 24: Last Chef Standing seems to be focusing more on the team drama.
Seeing personal rivalry and conflicts between the chefs is alright to some extent. But focusing more on the drama and personal issues between the chefs and teams does not interest viewers.
Such often happens on the show, especially when contestants are divided into different teams. Additionally, having a Golden Knife holder and assigning them certain responsibilities also seems quite off. When one of the participating chefs makes certain decisions, it might be biased, no matter what they say or feel.
24 in 24: Last Chef Standing: More drama among the cheftestants while they compete in different teams
Those were the good old days when contestants cooked off against fellow chefs in the cooking competition. Yes, there was drama, but it was minimal and not the main focus. However, lately, with 24 in 24: Last Chef Standing, viewers have been witnessing more team drama and less cooking rivalry.
Episode 6 of the show featured two teams. They were supposed to make a combo—a sandwich and a soup. Along the way, there were some curveballs that the chefs had to follow through. While chefs were supposed to work under pressure and test their skills, there were leadership struggles and conflicts between teammates.
Golden Knife holder Bryan Voltaggio led one team and chose Gabe Bertaccini as the opposing team's captain. However, there were various issues regarding making decisions and implementing strategies. Such team dynamics affected the culinary part of the competition. It seemed as if drama took over the culinary competition.
Similarly, episode 7 also featured similar conflicts between the teammates. It would be understandable that the chefs were going through the 19th hour of the 24 hours in the competition, but focusing more on the personal issues and conflicts is not the way to move forward.
Let's say there were some extreme issues related to a few chefs' conflicts with their fellow teammates or opposing teammates. Such parts should have been edited out. The show should have focused more on the competition and the dishes the chefs have worked on.
It is supposed to focus on how chefs work under pressure and what kind of creativity they implement in their dishes. Featuring team dynamics and how chefs work with their fellow teammates is fine.
However, showing the various conflicts between the participants surely distracts the viewers. As a result, they might also lose interest in the competition altogether.
While showcasing aspects such as the chef's rivalry with fellow contestants, it is necessary to keep the essence of the show, i.e., the culinary part. Showmakers must feature chefs' abilities and focus more on the dishes they create throughout various challenges.
24 in 24: Last Chef Standing Season 2 is now streaming on Food Network.
