Love Island UK Season 12 premiere featured an unexpected twist that stunned the Islanders and the viewers alike. Instead of the Islanders choosing their partner, the show host, Maya Jama, announced that female Islanders would be choosing their partner based on the dating profile.

Not only were the Islanders shocked, but it was also absolutely unexpected for the fans. The first impressions and introduction of the Islanders is one of the exciting aspects of the premiere itself. Also, it helps the Islanders determine who they would choose and who seems to be more their type.

But with the new Love Island UK twist introduced in the premiere itself, it all went out the window. It seemed as if the Islanders were robbed of their initial introduction. First impressions are the foundation of connections forming between the Islanders, but this season went differently.

Love Island UK's latest season featured a shocking twist, which only introduced the female Islanders. They were told to choose their partner by reading information from the male Islander's dating profile. There were red hearts containing each male Islander's dating profile, containing their name, age, height, job, and a tagline.

So basically, female Islanders did not get to see the male Islanders, and were supposed to choose their partner from their dating profile. Witnessing the blind coupling in the show's debut episode, fans were surprised. Later, when the female participants chose their partners, the male Islanders entered the villa.

As a viewer, not seeing the Islanders feels as if a huge part of the show's premiere was missing. Seeing the participants during the initial introduction has so many elements associated. Physical attraction and reactions from the fellow Islanders give a glimpse of what fans should expect to happen between the participants.

Instead of feeling like a twist, the blind coupling felt like a forced rule. Additionally, some of the fans might also think that the pairings between the cast members were awkward. Because of that, they might not get to see the desired chemistry and bond forming between the Islanders.

After the blind coupling, Love Island UK witnessed the following couples:

But none of those essential details were taken into consideration before introducing the twist in the show's premiere itself. It would be interesting to see how the couples formed through the blind coupling navigate their connection with their partner.
