Colman Domingo stars in Netflix's The Madness, an American conspiracy thriller limited series created by Stephen Belber. Domingo is an actor, playwright, and director who has played roles both on-screen and off-screen.

Raised as the third of four children by his mother and a bank worker, Edith Bowles, and his step-father Clarence, Domingo grew up in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Domingo is an American of Afro-Latino ethnicity. His father is from Belize and of Guatemalan descent, while his mother is African-American.

The Madness star was always keen on acting and graduated from Overbrook High School. He later attended Temple University to study journalism, but he decided to pursue acting and moved to San Francisco.

What roles has The Madness star Colman Domingo played so far?

Domingo's early Broadway appearances include Well and Passing Strange. He also received a nomination for the Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in a Musical for his role as Mr. Bones in the Broadway musical The Scottsboro Boys.

Domingo then moved on to TV shows with series like The Big Gay Sketch Show and Law and Order. His breakthrough role was in ABC's Fear the Walking Dead.

He also won a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series for his role in HBO's Euphoria.

His film credits also include projects like Lincoln (2012), Selma (2014), If Beale Street Could Talk (2018), Ma Rainey's Black Bottom (2020), and The Color Purple.

He is all set to appear as Joe Jackson in the musical biopic Michael in 2025 and will also star and direct in an untitled Nat King Cole biopic.

Recently, Domingo also appeared in the 2023 Netflix film Rustin, which earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor.

Colman Domingo stars as media pundit Muncie Daniels in Netflix's The Madness. He is involved in a murder deep in the woods of the Poconos mountains and must fight for his innocence and make his way back to his estranged family.

The limited series has eight episodes, which released on Netflix on November 28, 2024.

The show also stars Marsha Stephanie Blake, Gabrielle Graham, John Ortiz, Tamsin Topolski, and Thaddeus J. Mixson.

In an interview with Netflix's Tudum, Domingo talks about his character in the series,

“who are respected, at times challenged, even by their own communities. Sometimes looked at as being not Black enough, and then to some folks, too Black,”

He further added,

“He is someone who was definitely an activist when he was younger, then moved into a different echelon and then became a bit of a superstar. He’s a little bit removed from the communities he was advocating for.”

Domingo is a respected author and news commentator in the movie, whose life is turned upside down when he is involved in the 'death of a white supremacist' and also framed for it.

As an 'ordinary black man', Domingo must prove his innocence and reconnect with his lost ideals.
