Anne Rice's Immortal Universe is set to be explored from a different approach in the upcoming Talamasca: The Secret Order on October 26, 2025. This is the third show from this universe to join AMC after Interview with the Vampire and Mayfair Witches. This show stands apart from the earlier adaptations, as they mainly focused on the otherworldly creatures, and this time around, we focus on the secret order that controls things from the background.
Showrunners John Lee Hancock and Mark Lafferty, in a recent conversation with Screen Rant, revealed their plans for the future of Talamasca: The Secret Order at AMC. Here's what they said.
Talamasca: The Secret Order showrunner reveals plans for the show's future
Anne Rice's Immortal Universe has been steadily growing under AMC, as both of the previous adaptations, Mayfair Witches and Interview with the Vampire, are set to return with their third seasons. Now, the addition of Talamasca: The Secret Order to this growing list of adaptations is painting an extended, continued future for the show.
It appears as if the showrunners, Hancock and Lafferty, have similar hopes for the upcoming adaptation to be a continued series rather than a limited one. In a recent conversation with ScreenRant, Lafferty revealed that they have designed the show as a thrill ride, which keeps the viewers hooked from the first episode to the last, and even then, leaves them wanting more:
"I think this show is just a thrill ride. I think people are going to be really excited for it. As Bill said, it's got incredible, grounded characters, but from the first episode to the last, it moves, and it's a lot of fun."
Mark Lafferty went on to explain that, along with the first season being designed as a thrill ride, it is also created in a way that leaves room for the continuation of the series, in hopes that AMC renews the show:
"No, it'll be continuing."

John Lee Hancock went on to explain why Talamasca: The Secret Order is extremely special and exciting for him to be a part of. He revealed that, being from a film background, he has only experienced the release of his films, where there's a start and an end. He has never had the chance to keep an ongoing dialogue with his audience, who talk about each episode and everything that is happening as the episodes are released. This show, according to him, is giving him the amazing opportunity to build an ongoing dialogue with his audience.
"And everything I've done in my career, it's so exciting to have something that people really haven't seen yet, and to be able to share it with them, and to have that interaction over episodes as opposed to — I have a movie career, so it's mostly, there's the movie, it's a beginning, middle and end, and you talk about it. This is something that's an ongoing discussion, and I can't wait to share this with everybody and to talk about it."
When it was jokingly suggested to Mark Lafferty that the show's duration would be a hundred seasons and a movie, he said:
"From your lips [to God's ears]"
If Talamasca: The Secret Order has a successful premiere, similar to the previous adaptations, John Lee Hancock and Mark Lafferty might just be able to implement everything they're planning for the show's future.
