With all of the excitement surrounding the Malcolm in the Middle reboot, many fans are excitedly reminiscing on how the show concluded. After 7 seasons, Malcolm in the Middle's series finale answered many questions throughout the series. It was poignant, but it also had lots of elements left over from what had become the family's habitual craziness.

The final episode of Malcolm in the Middle marked Malcolm's graduation from high school. The finale contained many elements that would shape Malcolm and his brothers' futures. It was the same mix of humour and chaos that had characterized the show since its inception. However, it was also incredibly moving and showed a nice resolution to the many issues that had troubled the family prior to this point.

What was apparent in the series finale was Malcolm's future. The producers and writers gave Malcolm a path, and the series ended up providing closure for the character of Malcolm. They provided closure for the other members of the family by also utilizing the same theme of an honest and cluttered family life.

Malcolm's last days of high school are the focus of much of the finale. Malcolm had gained admission to Harvard but faced financial difficulties that had also affected the family for years. Malcolm in the Middle's finale provided no 'happily ever after' to the family. However, Malcolm received a clear indication of what was next for him. All other family members were also experiencing change, but the means in which they dealt with it were realistic and normal for their situation. Because all the changes, including Malcolm's, were straightforward with no exaggerated drama, the conclusion still possesses a certain realism.

The main events of the finale of Malcolm in the Middle

The last episode of Malcolm in the Middle showed us the family home in chaos, as always, and Malcolm getting ready to deliver his graduation speech. Meanwhile, Reese was working as a school janitor, trying to continue to work there for as long as he could.

Dewey would finally be able to say that he was the oldest of the children still living at home, which was something he had looked forward to for many years. At the same time, Hal was trying to figure out how to pay for Malcolm’s tuition to Harvard since the scholarship money was not enough. After the last episode aired, Bryan Cranston gave interviews where he talked about how the writers wanted Hal to represent the series' long-running theme that nothing is ever easy for this family.

Reese planned on making a lot of trouble in order to keep his janitor job longer than he expected. So when the trouble went further than he intended, he enlisted the help of his grandmother, Ida, to create a total disaster at school by filling a barrel with a mixture of various disgusting liquids. The sludge barrel was concealed at the rear of the van and played a significant role in the series finale of Malcolm in the Middle. At the same time, Malcolm was anxious about how to write and deliver his graduation speech and was unsure of his future aspirations.

Another significant point during this episode occurred when Malcolm was offered a job with an established and wealthy tech company run by a friend of Stevie's father. The job would offer Malcolm a stable source of income right away, but Lois would not allow him to accept the position. This led to a significant argument between Malcolm and Lois, with Lois believing that Malcolm must attend Harvard for a more significant purpose that she believed Malcolm needed to fulfil.

The meaning behind Malcolm's final path

In Malcolm in the Middle's final episode, the most touching parts of the series occurred within the backyard following an accident involving a large amount of sludge being spilled everywhere. Everyone in the family, including Malcolm, had gotten sludge all over them. It gave Malcolm an opportunity to express all of his pent-up anger as he confronted both Lois and Reese over the incident. He specifically called out Lois for not letting him accept a very lucrative career opportunity that had been offered to him.

Lois subsequently went on to tell Malcolm that she didn’t want him to accept the job because she believed he could grow up to become President of the United States. Although this statement was unexpected, it was nonetheless consistent with the overall tone and content of the series. Lois has always pushed Malcolm to be the best he can possibly be because it is her belief that in order to be the best at anything, one must have a greater understanding of the world around them.

She explained that Malcolm had to know what it felt like to struggle so he could become a leader who truly understood people who were not rich or privileged. Even though Malcolm doubted himself, Lois told him that he had the ability to do anything. This gave the finale a hopeful tone while still keeping the idea that Malcolm would have to work harder than most people to succeed.

The finale of Malcolm in the Middle ended with Malcolm giving his graduation speech. The camera showed that many students refused to sit near him or his family, which echoed the very first episode of the series. The message was simple: Malcolm's life had always been difficult, but he also had the strength to move forward. The show closed by hinting at each family member's future. Francis found a steady office job. Reese moved in with Craig. Dewey became the oldest kid at home. And Malcolm prepared for Harvard, ready for a long journey ahead.

Now, fans are eagerly waiting to see how the Malcolm in the Middle reboot shapes the narrative.
