After surviving surgery, Vance makes McGee an acting director. The episode focuses on family versus duty as Jared gets tense about the personal risk involved in his father's job. The attacker also triggers some false alarms, like the one in Parker's apartment. With Curtis' help, they discover the attacks have been done via the Bandium app, highlighting a cyber attack.

The team discovers that Fletcher Voss was developing the Bandium app and wanted to sell it to NCIS, but its servers could be hacked. When asked to let the team inspect them, Voss stalled, claiming proprietary information. They also learn that the tracker knew Vance's location and that he is going to meet his son. When the team connected this to Jared's life, they found out about Lindsey Wexler, who had secretly befriended Jared. Curtis, a hacker outside the NCIS team, further helped link the Bandium app hacking to Lindsey as well.

Lindsey's real name is Rish and is the daughter of a terrorist, Leonard Rish, who was stopped a decade ago by the team. Since then, his daughter has been fueled with revenge. She used Voss as an unwitting accomplice, planting a virus and fabricating attacks to frame him.

Lindsey hacks Bandium, Voss’s app, and plants a virus to infiltrate NCIS's systems, orchestrating attacks on multiple targets. As mentioned, her motive behind this is to take revenge on the NCIS team for her father's death long ago. She got into an online platform and also manipulated Jared against his father.

Lindsey is ruthless and intelligent, with knowledge of technology and hacking, and wants to continue her father's name and legacy. Her ultimate plan was to hijack Air Force One, targeting the president, but NCIS intervened and prevented the disaster. This is how the truth comes to light, leading to Jared understanding the importance of his father's work and final reconciliation. Voss also faces charges for letting Lindsey kill Vance as he was stopping his team from using his app Bandium.

The episode ends with the team and Jared in the hospital, along with Vance, who is recovering. The team is seen praising Curtis, who admires the team and has helped them efficiently in the case without being part of the team.
