Pete Invernizzi might not be the lead of Tulsa King Season 1, but his presence and prominence remain till the end of the series. Pete Invernizzi is introduced in Tulsa King as the head of the Invernizzi clan. However, his physical state was not in any position to rule over the crime world.

His sickness deteriorated his health as the series progressed. Before his health deteriorated, Pete played a vital role in pushing his son, Chickie, on the path he later treads. He wanted his son to be in the crime world. He wanted him to follow in his footsteps. In Tulsa King Season 1, Pete’s relationship with his son is strained.

This strained relationship with his son becomes a central part of the series. Hence, when Chickie realises that his father might be recovering from his health crisis, he takes a drastic measure. He becomes eager to emancipate himself from his father’s shadow.

In Tulsa King Season 1, episode 7, Pete’s health is recovering. However, when he finds out about the actions of his son, he becomes extremely enraged. So, while his son is bathing him, Chickie, in a fit of anger, drowns Pete and kills him. The reason Pete is killed by his own son is also because of his own actions.

Though Chickie is distraught with his own insecurities, his father’s disrespect triggers him even more. Pete never gave Chickie the respect he deserved. This, in turn, built a sense of resentment towards Pete.

After Chickie’s actions created a mess in Tulsa King Season 1, Pete’s dissatisfaction with his son increased with time. However, Pete was the only one who forced his son to follow the path of crime. In a video from Paramount+, Chickie actor Domenick Lombardozzi says,

“We learned that, I don’t think he ever wanted a part of it. Maybe that’s why he did the things he did.”

Pete’s journey ends with a shocking turn of events. He finds his end at the hands of his own son, whom he forced to join the world of crime. In Tulsa King Season 1, it can be seen that Pete never appreciated Chickie's efforts. On the other hand, he always appreciated Dwight.

In an interview with Collider, Tulsa King Season 1 actor A. C. Peterson, who plays the role of Pete, speaks about the nature of his character. He says Pete is,

“A monster. My character is a monster. He's powerful, he is manipulative, he's got an alligator smile, nice grin, but he'll eat you alive, and stab you in the back, and do anything he needs to do to control and maintain that power. A deceptive individual, [but] it seems like he's completely honest.”

His words perfectly depict how Pete Invernizzi truly is in the series. Pete’s manipulative actions create chaos. His actions ultimately lead him to his devastating fate at the hands of his own son.

A.C. Peterson does a commendable job in bringing out the nuanced nature of Pete’s character in Tulsa King Season 1. Besides Tulsa King, his other notable works include The Trades, Diamonds on Plastic, and many more.
